The Masked Singer Series 3

So it's better to have someone who's UK based. While the celebrities we've seen on all three series so far are reasonably well known and recognised in the UK, I think it's fair to may many won't be known outside of the UK. I'm sure it would be nice to believe Ken knew who Patsy Palmer and Jason Manford were, but I doubt it! And if BM11's parents didn't know who Skin was Wink

Would be the same having a British panellist on the US version (even though ITV2 show the US version, probably at least half of the contestants are virtually unknown over here- looking at some of the names who've been revealed, they'd be as perplexing to Brits as Gloria Hunniford would be to Americans).
I think for The Masked Singer, you do need judges who are familiar with celebrities of that location. I'm sure it was same when Lindsay Lohan did the Australian version, she likely didn't have a clue who any of the celebs were!

I wouldn't mind seeing judges from other Masked Singers pop up like Nicole Scherzinger or Dannii Minogue in future series and perhaps the same will happen with say Rita Ora on either the US version or the Australian version.

Danni Minogue you'd probably get away with as she's spent so much time over here she's likely familar with the sort of people who'd appear.

I'd say the contestant choice has been good on all three series so far, as they're all people who are reasonably well known here, nobody too obscure and not resorting to reality or YouTube/TikTok people either. Though I guess it's possible some of the remaining reveals this year could change that, though none of the likely suggestions I've seen for most of them go against the grain of what we've seen so far.

Could Mushroom be Cheryl?

I like her singing but she does not have a voice that good. Maybe firework is her but I’m not sure she could change her voice to thar extent.

Sorry if this post is more akin to those on Digital Spy, but does anybody else feel this 3rd series is missing something? The first series was brilliant because it was new and felt very trippy; the second series and the Dancer spin-off were great fun, but the show has lacked its charm this time round and I'm not sure exactly what it is about it.

It might be because the panel are trotting out the same old guesses week in, week out, year in, year out. It's lost the 'trippy' feeling for me. Getting rid of Ken, though I like him on the US show, was 100% the right thing to do, and Mo is much better, but S3 feels somewhat lost? in comparison to the first 2 and the Dancer spin-off. Maybe I'm just sick of society's obsession with all things 'celebrity' at this point- it was nice when they used to just be on at Christmas, little bit of a treat, made it feel more special, whereas now with them around all the time, they've lost that special feeling. The novelty of series like the Masked SInger wears off after a while unfortunately.

It always takes a few eps to get in to. Think it usually becomes more interesting once the two groups merge and viewers think they have more idea of who is who.

I feel like it should be stripped across a week personally. Drawing it out makes it lose its feeling of being an event.

I disagree and agree about it being stripped across a week (if that's possible). If it was stripped across the week it would make guessing slightly easier, as previous clues would be fresh in the memory. However as a bit of light entertainment I enjoy it being just a once a week event. Personally I record it to my hard disk so that I can watch it later and fast forward the numerous advert breaks (as the ITV Hub seems to show more adverts than it used to in the breaks).

On another note are the 'theme weeks' new for this series?

When ITV announced the first series of Masked Singer they did originally say it would be stripped across a week, but obviously by the time it aired changed their minds. Rightly so I think - it works well as a Saturday night event.

On the series being as good as the others - I was a tad underwhelmed by episode 1 but really enjoyed it on Saturday. And as Brekkie said, it goes up a gear when the groups merge.

The theme weeks are new but I expect they will only do the 2 (one for each set of contestants). I doubt they'll keep them once the groups merge but prepared to be wrong on that one!

Do we know if they're having any guest panelists this series?

Agree. I hope that ITV spotted that big Saturday evening shiny floor inoffensive multi generational viewing options post-strictly fell off a cliff once that show finished.
The Masked Singer filled that vacumn rather nicely.

Might as well shut down television for the rest of the year - we've had the moment of the year with Traffic Cone singing a song from Toy Story.

This show throws up some interesting TV moments, it has to be said!

With the dodgy altered lyrics of Teenage Dirtbag that bagpipes sang, always reminds me strangely how music channels when the song first came out left in the word "dick" but edited out "gun", which is bizarre.

The Masked Singer decided to change both words!

Another brilliant episode tonight, great fun as always, cannot wait for when the groups merge next week!

Panda: Came out with a clue about something being very "Elf like", could be somebody who was in the movie, Elf? - Sounds very American too.

Poodle: That Mika guess to one of the lies/truths was a really good shout, other than that, so difficult this one!

Traffic Cone: One of the tweets suggested Paddy McGuinness, can definitely hear his voice in the VT, definitely doesn't sound like him when he sings though! - Alexander Armstrong maybe?

Rockhopper: Haven't got a clue about this one, so difficult! - Love the costume though!

Bagpipes became Pat Cash, would not have got that since it was before my time, my guess was a long shot, went for Iain Sterling lol

Pat Cash, not Pat Rice.
