No doubt Cliffhanger is up next. And it really fails to match the prizes of the 90s version.

I guess most Price is Right games are quite dull in their right. So they’ve basically stuck with some of the most memorable ones.

The Price Is Right was fine last year as a one-off addition but I’m really not sure it works as a regular in the Epic Gameshow series.

As has been discussed the games are just quite low rent. It would probably work better revived as a daytime series (probably in a 30 minute timeslot), but there’s no chance of that happening. Was the C4 pilot for daytime? I thought it aired in primetime.

The days of daytime being the home of cheaper versions of prime time quizzes is long gone.

Daytime quizzes are now the hot property that get spun off into prime time, not the other way round!

And game shows don't give away prizes in every round to every competing contestant anymore. Indeed of the modern era Tipping Point is the only one I can think of which gives out spot prizes during the show (but only awards the accumulated cash to the runners up in the celeb version).

I’m not a regular viewer of the daytime editions but it does make me smile on Tipping Point Lucky Stars how the spot prize can vary between a £200 cash bonus into the pot & a novelty item like a branded phone case or onesie!

I find that The Price is Right is one of the better 'Epic' formats probably because it deviates the least from the original. I do however detest the 'Epic' treatment of Bullseye

The BBC are bringing Blankety Blank back this year after the Christmas special last year.

Personally a bit suprised they're making a full series out of this. I'm personally too young to remember old BB and although Bradley was good (when isn't he) I didn't think there was anything great about the format - to me it felt quite dated. The special rated well with 5m IIRC but that's not necessarily demonstrative of how a series would do since one off viewers are likely to be higher.

Well I wasn’t classing that as one of the dull ones, as they do show that every time! Dull is probably the wrong word, but they’ve certainly been running with the more memorable two or three games each time, plus Piggy Bank for some reason.

Agree - it wasn't very good, especially in comparison to the ITV pilot a few years back with David Walliams, but anything that is a mediocre hit on BBC1 seems to earn itself a place on Christmas Day for a decade.

I assume it'll land on Saturday nights, possibly in a favourable post-Strictly slot for the first part of it's series before Michael McIntyre returns (either with The Wheel or The Big Show) in November.

Moving to a different game show, you know on Deal or No Deal UK when someone won the £250k, the confetti would burst in a spark of light before all the pieces fell to the ground? I have been ever fascinated by what exactly the production team used, and so, I wanted to do some research.

I discovered some YouTube videos that are described as "airbursts", which, to me, looked akin to what was used on the show, but then again, I am not too sure if it may be true.

I just want to know if there is anyone here who knows what was used? I will send some links to some videos I found below.

Here is a snippet from the original US Deal or No Deal pilot (for ABC, I think) hosted by Patrick Kielty. This channel uploads a lot of random US gameshow pilots and promised to upload the full thing should they hit 20k subscribers. Set looks very similar to the Aussie version and like that it has no banker character.

It would be great to ever see the Brian Conley fronted UK pilot and would be interesting to see what form that took. I think going down the French route of having future contestants opening the boxes really ensured the longevity of our version.
