Launch TalkTV

Currently watching on the website, and the break consisted of a loop showing the daytime schedule. Unfortunately, it reminded me of why I'm not likely to tune in regularly. Between Julia Hartley-Brewer, Jeremy Kyle and Mr "You can grow concrete", it feels like The News Desk is a bit of an outlier.

Bar the opening sync issue, it’s all coming across as being very professional, the pace of that first 15 minutes seemed good too.

Very impressed with The News Desk so far. It has that Special Report / Shep Smith authority from Fox. I know we shouldn't keep comparing but it seems like that's how it's shaping up.

Anyone know if the entire set is Chroma Key or is it a mix? (Apart from the obvious like the desk)

Kept repeating phrases and words (4-5 "in facts"?); does demonstrate how polished BBC and ITN are.

Lower-thirds are a bit... big. But to someone who doesn't watch US news, they look very original.

Must say I'm a Tom Newton Dunn fan; he's done radio for years (The Week in Westminister before Times Radio) and it looks like he's done TV for years.

Not a criticism, but I see the story mix is pretty tabloid - which is to be expected given the people involved. Also, there's plenty of hard news available at this time elsewhere so probably good to offer something different.

It seems to be slightly heavier than 5 News.

Really like the use of the correspondents from across the Murdoch print brands. Liked the punchiness of the first 15 minutes, was a shame it didn’t quite flow as well in the second part.

The promo with Julia Hartley-Brewer is very out of sync. The Jeremy Kyle promo was fine though.

Kate McCann promo shown twice during the break.
I'm on Andover Radio every Saturday afternoon from 4pm-6pm. Follow me on Twitter.

Struggling to see the point of this prog

No paid ads in second break and they showed Kate McCann's promo twice!

In all honesty, from what I've seen so far, TalkTV has done a channel launch like pros, unlike GB News which had problems with their tech from the very start.

The on-screen logo looks massive - quite a distraction for those wanting to see the channel in all its glory, though I love the way they transition from the Live sting to the shot of the NewsUK building. It's brilliant that outside shots of TV buildings on air are making a comeback (for TalkTV anyways). This is honestly how GB News should have launched.

I'm guessing here that the 7pm and 9pm shows are going to have more of a female skew. The News Desk has already a human interest interview and a showbiz segment, similar to 5 News, while Piers is targeted at men, but women will watch from his GMB era.

Live stream not geoblocked, surprisingly given Morgan's show is going on three different outlets. And during ad breaks there's a loop for the weekday schedule.

Does P.M set have a staircase?!

Interesting.....
