ITV Evening News 30 mins on Fridays on UTV
ITV Region: ITV News Tyne Tees

So, had time to digest it now.
Overall, some positive changes in my view. It's nice to see the weather come from the studio (even if it makes it obvious it's all green screen), and finally a full promo for News at Ten included, although I can't really picture Tom or Rageh sat in that little corner they had Julie in.
Of course, some graphics changes just not in the areas we were expecting (titles and astons) - the stuff I was expecting to change didn't but the stuff that I didn't expect did change. Nice to see the transitions between the stories on the 'coming up' and the TOTH, although I'd rather they just use the TOTH graphics before the breaks.
Maybe it's just that I've gotten used to the stuff about Ukraine but it didn't drag after 25 minutes or so like I expected it to, and was quite surprised when I looked at the clock on my laptop to see it showing 7pm.
Seemed alright to me. It was like the Evening News, but on for an hour. I’m not sure what people were expecting really.
At least there were no gimmicks like a phone in or asking for viewers comments on the news etc, although having said that we don’t know what they had planned if it wasn’t for the war.
I wonder if they might do some sports news, maybe on a Friday it’d be a good way to pad out the time, as ITV News don’t tend to do much sport unless it’s a big story. Steve Scott could come in and host it.
I’d be nice if the weather could be a bit longer, it seemed longer tonight compared to how it was previously, but still nowhere near as long as a BBC forecast is.

The extra 30 mins allowed them to also squeeze in some domestic news which has been lacking in great detail since the war started.
I assume the weather will be earlier on Fridays around 1855pm if the nations are opting out from 7pm.
