Noticed that All Out Politics is down for 2 hours tomorrow from 10am-12pm but as normal for the rest of the week.

It's the same today, which would suggest that Ian King is preparing for Budget coverage tomorrow.

However, it means they only have 4 minutes to move and plumb in that desk in the Westminster studio after Kay Burley. Quite an achievement.

It strikes me as a strange move that Ian King Live has seemingly moved to a “term time” only position. It went off air I’m August also. That can work for All Out Politics, AOP is usual off over Christmas/Easter/Summer Breaks, as Parliament is often in recess and there’s less political news/discussion about. But the business programme is one that - except bank holidays - should in my opinion continue, business doesn’t shut for half term breaks. And as it’s budget week, this really does seems particularly bad planning/timing.

Sky News at Ten looking a little different this evening, seemingly because the central rail camera in the Glass Box has vanished.



Looks like it was removed this morning, presumably for maintenance purposes (screenshot from TOTH at 12pm).

Actually the camera shot they’re using on the Midnight bulletin, is an improvement on what we usually get IMO.

Just watching Kay Burley's interview with Rishi Sunack. She really is a disgrace. Her style is just dreadful and does nothing for her reputation, or that of Sky News. She needs to go!

Poor interviewer or poor interviewee? I think it's fair to say the current crop on both sides of the interview desk often don't do each other any favours - frankly they're not there to do each other favours, but a bit more respect sometimes wouldn't go amiss.

Going by the like-and-dislike ratio of that video on YT, Scarbados' view is one shared by many others.

Next, we'll need to see how many Ofcom complaints are filed over this.

I don't see the problem with her asking if billionaires such as Sunak should pay more tax? Its a fair enough question! Kay is one of the only TV interviewers who seems to try and hold this government to account.

It seems the centre camera in the glass box is now back in use. Sarah Jane is using it now on The Newshour (which she is presenting today in addition to her show earlier)

Also first time I have seen this coming up slide used, i'm liking the sentence case on the lower thirds. Is this new or is it normally used on The Newshour?

Yes, the centre camera was re-installed last night as it appeared in the TOTH shot at 21:00 onwards, but at the top of the column and was not in use. I suspect it was configured and re-enabled during Burley/AOP this morning.

That coming-up slide has been used for a while, including with the strap. Not sure if I prefer the sentence case, as normally these straps are all-capitals.

I seem to recall that - at one point in the early days of the glass box - the notion of a golf cart for getting people back and forth between the studio and the newsroom was bandied about.

I can only imagine this was abandoned for three reasons:

1. There are a small but serviceable number of desks outside the glass box if correspondents want to work between live hits.
2. Liability reasons
3. Umbrellas and running quickly proved themselves to be more cost-effective.

Seem to be some playout issues on Sky News this morning since just after 6am. Nick Quraishi throwing to a package just after the 6am TOTH and it was black, and seemed like he was told that nothing else was available. Deftly covered with lives (with no overlay over it) and then some longer packages later that hour which I guess were already cued up in the EVS ports. No openers at 7am and very quickly throwing to correspondents and now a ministerial guest.
