Those people suggesting Good Morning Britain would not be interested in Louise Minchin: they poached Bill Turnbull, and he's been more loyal to Susanna Reid and Good Morning Britain in the last year than he ever has done to BBC Breakfast during well over a decade there.

So Louise Minchin defecting to Good Morning Britain? Definitely a possibility.

I don't think she will go to breakfast tv, she stated not getting up in the middle of the night was a benefit of leaving breakfast tv. I doubt she would go back to it!

Whilst Sally and Ranvir are good shouts, I wonder whether Tina Daheley could be one to watch? Has been relief in the past and with her ad hoc appearances on the Six and Ten, could be a good way to “introduce” her more to BBC One audiences...

Tina Daheley would be my bet too, though I wouldn't rule out Sally. I don't think it'll be an outsider, although I wouldn't rule out Annabel Tiffin, although unlike Roger Johnson I don't think she's done a Sunday show, or certainly not as frequently.

I'm not sure whether Tina would want to the gig right now. She's just had a baby, so will be off for a few more months anyway, and I think she lives in London so whether she'd be willing to relocate or be away from the family for at least three days at a time will influence her decision. In saying that, she clearly isn't adverse to early mornings.

I can't help but feeling everyone should come back down to earth about Minchin wanting to leave and as to who her replacement will be.

She's done 20 years, that's quite some service. Why on earth is anyone suggesting GMB or another breakfast programme? If anything, and with having an avid interest in sport, coupled with the fact she works in the same building as BBC Sport - she'll probably get a sport's gig.

Daheley - I know 100% without having to source anyone is very happy in London, and as mentioned by other members previously has had a wonderful change with her personal life. She's just not is interested in moving North. Surely it's common sense Minchin's replacement will come from within.

Let us not forget the Breakfast team are a real family, they all socialise together, they are all best friends, the ratings are rock solid, there is no reason to assume it'll be anyone from GMB or anyone else external.

Dan Walker wasn't external - he may not have been a household name to housewives/mums watching breakfast but he's been a BBC name since his early days at 5LIVE onward. People probably don't know Walker is a trained Journalist, so totally suitable for news, sport and whatever.

As said previously, my money is on Sally Nugent getting the number 1 spot, Naga as she was, Burden as cover.

As for Louise... everyone’s saying she’s going to GMB lol don’t make me laugh. So unrealistic. I personally think she’ll take a break and enjoy her life a bit. She’s big on swimming cycling and running. There’s more to life than the BBC. Can see her working more within BBC Sport. She lives up north now too so definitely can’t see her relocating back to London. Unless she’s quitting all together for a surfer life down in Cornwall where she loves!

The five day week is a fairly alien concept in UK television - most flagship shows have their main presenters in Monday to Thursday and the B-team on the Friday, with three day weeks common for the highest profile hosts like Huw Edwards and Piers Morgan.
