Preview of what the former CBS This Morning studio should look like when used for the streaming network:

Although great that studio is getting a second life it is a shame to lose it's newsroom setting.

The most likely reason: management changes over at the station, as longtime executive Pamela Pearson retired in May, being replaced by former KMSP/WFTC general manager Sheila Oliver. Oliver is changing the brands of both KCPQ and sister MNTV outlet KZJO (currently branded as Joe TV) to look more like the Twin Cities duopoly, with KCPQ adopting the more corporate Fox 13 brand, and KZJO becoming Fox 13 Plus (a similar convention has been used by MNTV O&Os in Dallas, Atlanta and Phoenix, as well as in the Twin Cities and independent KICU in San Francisco as KTVU Plus).

There is no date still for the changes, but this is really a sad moment for Seattle TV, as the Q13 brand managed to survive three acquisitions, and is very well known by Northwest viewers. Fox had got looser with its local branding mandates in more recent years, and the Q13 brand was being retained by Fox, as proved by the most recent refresh of the Q13 logo last year, which straightened the borders of the Q and a new font for the 13 glyphs to make it more in line with the new Fox brand.

An update to this sad story in Seattle. A TVNewsTalk.net insider has confirmed the generic Fox 13 brand will debut Friday during the morning news. Such a sad day on Seattle TV.

Back to the CBS News channel topic...

This is how CBS Mornings (or This Morning) should had redressed its set to adapt with the new graphics instead of making that expensive move to Times Square. But the design is very much inline with the Times Square 1515 studio, and I think it could be useful for the CBSEN when it comes back to NY (if ever happens, or when the duty anchor might be in the city for a time).

From adweek, CBSN a will be renamed as just "CBS News", reminds me of full-pledge news channel such as "BBC News", "Sky News", "RTE News", etc.

Returning to the rebrand of Q13 Seattle, I noticed that they also took the current Fox local news graphics but with Q13 NEWS instead of Fox on them.

But it's a shame that a channel that has managed to keep their local branding for so long because of the local brand affinity in Seattle even as a Fox O&O is now another generic Fox branded station.

CBSN is going to be rebranded as CBS NEWS (which won't be confusing at all , nope) They also will be using studio 57 (the former CBS This Morning Home ) , so glad they aren't just washing their hands of that studio. https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/cbsn-ne...235071267/

Widely expected. I understand they will be calling it the CBS News Channel when programming on the main CBS network, just as when the BBC calls the BBC News Channel when referring to it on other services.

Turns out it will just be called "CBS News" bit confusing for the main network. Also a look at what the updated Studio 57 will look like! https://deadline.com/2021/09/cbs-news-cb...234842376/

It is kind of sad, the Q13 branding was around since 1980. It lasted multiple owners, and it fits Seattle's main stations brandings. There's KOMO 4 , KING 5, Kong 6/16, Kiro 7, (KCP) Q 13.... and it seems unnecessary to change brand equity just because they can. All they really had to do was just go back to Q13 FOX and Q13 FOX news as brandings if they really wanted the FOX branding back in there. The JOE TV name on the other hand lasted longer than I thought it would.

I liked the newsroom when CBSN first launched - it reminded me of CNN up to the mid 00s. But, after a while, it ended up feeling quite dark, cramped and even empty a lot of the time.

They haven't used it for ages. A lot of their output is still home-based and they've been using the long-time CBS Evening News studio (studio 47) for the small number of presenters based at the CBS Broadcast Center.

I'm just glad that they'll be back in a proper studio and, by the looks of it, they'll have quite a lot of space to play with.

Talk about an unprecedented situation. The View had quite a day today with Sunny and Ana being pulled off air, live, after their tests came positive, on the day when Kamala Harris was supposed to be the guest. Joy and Sarah were left to fill in while Harris' and The View teams were scrambling behind the scenes, trying to find a way to do the interview, without her coming into the potentially infected studio environment. Joy and Sarah took questions from the audience most of the hour, with the audience hardly being heard with masks on and no mics. It was all so messy and Kamala came in the last 10 minutes or so for a short interview, she was in a separate room of course.

News Nation's morning programme "Morning in America" launched today, it's done from Chicago like the rest of Newsnation, using the newsroom set as "News Nation : Rush Hour" also uses.

Note they've kept the font used for the '13' from the old Q13 branding.

A far cry from the Mark Haines era on CNBC's Squawk Box and these people are financial journalists?

Squawk Box moved to Times Square from New Jersey in 2015 so must be at least from before that.
