I see on Facebook there’s a post from bbc one about Kylie & Jason reunited on neighbours, would it of been appt if neighbours was also shown on BBC one at the same time as channel 5, as seeing as neighbours started off on BBC one and to have the final on BBC one too, would of fitted it with some of the old characters who left and came back,
It’s prob too late now for it to happen, just thought it would be a nice token send off for the soap from the UK

No, C5 have the rights. Why would they give BBC1 the ratings of the finale?
Possible The One Show will do something but as the Commonwealth Games start the day before it may be off air, unless it moves to BBC2 again.

Well it would give the final of neighbours an extra boost for the UK, I’m sure C5 wouldn’t mind, seeing as it would be the very last neighbours, which was made mainly for the UK viewers Also, with the production costs of neighbours did they ever do product placement advertising like they do on corrie or Emmerdale, or this no a common thing down under in Aussie tv? As I sure that could of helps with the cost of the show ?! Ah well either way, hope the bbc mark the end one way or another. Quite a fundamental misunderstanding of how commercial TV and rights work here! There’s no way Channel 5 - a business which makes money from advertising - would give away what could be one of its highest rating (and advertiser-attracting) programmes of the year. I assure you C5 (or, to be precise, those in charge of accounts and revenue at C5) would mind.

You must understand how there's no way on Earth they'd just give it away to the BBC? If not that's just lacking the most basic understanding of how television works. Would of been television history. Hey ho

The suggestion that BBC One should simulcast the Neighbours finale is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've read in quite some time.

I was just amused to see it come up when I went looking for stories on how the Beeb lost Neighbours all those years ago. Wonder how it would be rating now if it had stayed on BBC1. |
