News UK confirms Jeremy Kyle will have his own and as yet untitled and unscheduled show on Talk TV later this summer.

This follows his “surprise” appearance on The Talk this week.

Jeremy Kyle is to host a new prime time show on TalkTV, delivering a review of the day’s news with viewers at its heart.

Jeremy, who joined News UK last September as Drive Time host on TalkRadio, had already appeared on new prime time panel show The Talk as a surprise guest earlier this week, alongside Sharon Osbourne.

When it launches, his new show will join The News Desk with Tom Newton Dunn, Piers Morgan Uncensored and The Talk in the prime time segment of TalkTV later this year.

I can't quite work out if he's going to be standing down from the drive time slot or not when he takes on a TV show, because it says "Until then, Jeremy will continue to host Drive Time" but there's also "host my own TV show too!”.

If so, that's another drive change at TalkRadio who since moving JHB to mornings have gone through Eamonn Holmes, Dan Wootton, Mark Dolan, Patrick Christys and Jeremy Kyle.

Piers Morgan has wrapped up his first week at TalkTV, and on cue, Guido is here to report the BARB viewing figures. There’s good news and bad news. The good news for Piers is he has managed to slow the trend of losing over 100,000 viewers with every consecutive show. The bad news is last night’s broadcast was still the lowest-rated yet, pulling in 117,900 viewers in his primetime slot – compared to 316,800 on Monday…

Piers keeps boasting how well the show is doing on social media, which is hard for us to measure without access to his logins. We can however see that the show’s Twitter account has, at the time of going to pixel, just 42,056 followers and is getting signal digit retweets. Early days yet…

Piers will be pleased that despite the decline he is still leading against rivals in his time-slot. Tom Newton Dunn’s The News Desk now has a dedicated fan club of 14,300 viewers. Which means 39,900 people have, since Monday, decided to watch something else instead. Celebrations are in order for the team over at The Talk with Sharon Osbourne, though: viewership leapt up to 37,900 last night, after pulling in just 9,700 on Wednesday. The show beat Beth Rigby Interviews with a mere 28,600 viewers, though it trailed behind GB News’ Dan Wootton on 53,200. All well and good – except Sharon wasn’t even on the show last night… will she even return?

It’s a shame that The News Desk isn’t rating better. I think it’s a great show. Tom Newton Dunn really is very good - I suspect if this doesn’t work out he’ll pick up something on screen elsewhere. He’d work well on Sky.

Agreed, hopefully the ratings find their feet. I find myself watching it rather than ITV News or BBC, it is a very well produced News programme and an easy watch.

Surely they are not going to put 4 hours of Piers on the radio on Sunday afternoon? Are they going to split TV from radio?

In that NewsUK press release there was a intresting quote;

Scott Taunton, EVP, President of Broadcasting, News UK said: “Jeremy Kyle is a consummate broadcaster. He has made a big impact since joining TalkRadio last year and I’m delighted that he has agreed to launch a new show on TalkTV, building out our prime time schedule later this year.”

'building out our prime time schedule later this year'  I wonder if there are more ideas for new shows in the future?

The odd thing about a news channel focusing solely on producing content for primetime is that historically I'm pretty sure news channels have generally rated better outside of primetime.

Not a great sign that the possible tube route of Kate McCann is dominating the discussion There’s something a bit off and not very compelling about the Talk TV content

a 4 hour Sunday afternoon Morgan marathon is just too grim to even contemplate, but marginally better than streaming radio all weekend. Yes the set looks nice, and the Newsdesk seems quite whizzy and there were no GB News-style technical embarrassments, but otherwise what a shockingly awful launch week

Considering the press release also says they’re going to be making future announcements about talent joining evening primetime programmes in the coming weeks - I’d say they’ve got some bigger plans for sure. As has been noted the 10pm hour for the first part of the week feel very temporary

Probably some of the biggest/best publicity they’ve had for the channel this evening, as they had a 5 minute bit on Gogglebox.

If the ad campaign hasn’t broken through, that might’ve alerted some people to Morgan being back on air.
