When clean fresh modern looks like this and then I compare alongside what SkyNews does, it what they probably should be doing. Intstead of just that wall of white.

They have improved the look, but the studio is essentially the same since 2013. It has survived three different looks now.
Very understated theme tune. That seems to be the trend in Flemish Belgium these days.

Not bad I'm afraid. The studio refresh looks great visually, the new desk could have some work however. The graphics are essentially the same, but the opens are more in line with the design concept of the rest of VRT's news programming under the existing VRT NWS brand. Overall a great job.

I'm not too surprised that the graphics have stayed the same, considering that they were updated relatively recently.

Also Terzake and De Afspraak also got a new look along with the Canvas channel itself last year, thus bringing Het Journaal more in line to how those shows look and the VRT NWS brand.

But maybe that's not such a huge surprise. Two news themes of similar length, building up to a crescendo at around the same time. That said, I suspect SVT has taken at least some inspiration from VRT. The titles to SVT's Aktuellt remind me (visuals, not sound) of the Terzake clip posted above. And the graphics for SVT's Agenda remind me strongly of Terzake around 2007.

Back to the Icelandic Volcanoes (yes there are now three, two more joining the twin-coned original) neatly lined up along the fissure fault line, one of the 24/7 webcams got eaten and swallowed by the creeping lava around 24 hours ago.
