Have you ever appeared on Television?

I was on the front row in the audience of multiple recorded shows in The Netherlands. In one occasion we even got paid to be there . I've also been an extra for several Dutch productions. The last time I appeared on television was in a news report on Estonian television, a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it isn't available anymore on the internet. Ironically, I made some photos earlier that evening of the crew while they made the report.

I've been in a few game show audiences (my Mum was rather over excited when she saw me and my mate on Million Pound Drop Live!), was quite the regular on ITV Play in terms of getting through to the studio, and been in a random caravan somewhere in York with Harry Gration when I was about 7! (my parents wish they could find that VHS recording to embarrass me!)

In a slight twist we also had BBC Look North at our gate once, as I had filmed some footage of a school going up in smoke (it was literally next door to my parents house so I just went outside and started filming on the wonderful early 2000 era of digital camera technology!) and they were after some pictures / videos for broadcast in their bulletin...no I didn't get paid a penny

Also in my previous job the Antiques Roadshow rocked up and needed me to sort some WiFi access out for them, I watched some of the recording taking place during my lunch break but didn't get into any of the background shots...from what I remember they literally rehearse the entire conversation between the member of the public and the expert before actually filming it

Done a few games and quizzes - Countdown aged 17 (I was awful), Perfection with Nick Knowles (missed the jackpot by one answer), The Chase (got to the final but caught in the end) and Tipping Point (the only one I actually won but the jackpot eluded me again).

Also popped up in a few audience shots on an episode of The Dog Ate My Homework on CBBC. I was actually working, looking after the audience during the recording but was asked to seat fill for the shots.

What are The Chase and Tipping Point like behind the scenes? It's one thing watching it but being a contestant is another thing entirely.

It is very different when you're playing it for real but it is really great fun. Both shows were fantastic experiences and for me, winning them was never in my mind, it was the chance to take part on the shows that was what attracted me to do them.

Bradley and Ben are brilliant at what they do, putting contestants at ease. You don't meet them tend to meet them before you're on the set however but you have to bear in mind, they will be preparing for the next show - they will be making up to 5 shows in a day, sometimes more so their time is limited throughout the day. But once on set, they will make sure to say hello, have a quick chat and it really does help to relax you if you're nervous.

My experience for both shows were pretty similar - you arrive at the studios (For me it was TLS for The Chase and Wimbledon Studios for Tipping Point) and are briefed on the game by the production team, you meet the other players, maybe play a mock version to help prepare you for the game. Then into make up, change into the clothes you will wear (you're told to being a range of options with you) and it's onto the set. The recordings tend to go quicker that you think it will - these shows are well oiled machines and like I said, they are making numerous shows a day so they are adept at getting through them quickly but there will be the odd technical fault or stoppage to check over a question or answer. Also there is no audience - any applause you hear on the shows are canned.

THE CHASE
- You really don't know who the chaser will be until they come out that first time, not even Bradley.
- The process for selecting the questions for the final chase was quite literally, two balls in a bag.
- My 'anecdote' was done twice, once in my chat with Bradley and again during the individual chase - it was cut out of the show.

TIPPING POINT
- Filmed at the same studios where The Bill was made, had to go through one of their old hospital sets to get to the studio
- There is a man who comes on to count every counter that comes out of the machine.
- During a technical fault which lasted for about 30 mins, Ben sought my opinions on Scottish independence (the referendum was approaching at the time).

I would say to anyone who wants to apply, do it. It's a wonderful experience and hey, you might win something but don't hang your hopes on doing that - just have fun!

I featured in the background of a report on Meridian Tonight (as it was called then) in 1998, when they did a report about my school. Have not been in a television audience for anything, although I would love to go and visit TVC and New Broadcasting House when things return to normal.

I’ve never appeared properly on Television, but here goes.

Had my birthday read out on TV-am back in 1992.

I was interviewed by Sky News for a vox pop for the Queens Golden Jubilee back in 2002. Their royal reporter at the time was in our village as they had discovered film of our village during the Queens Coronation in 1953. It wasn’t much they just asked me for my thoughts about the celebration. Plus I was in my school uniform and I think they wanted a younger persons opinion.

Countdown, just about. The first time we saw it being filmed in 2010 at Quay Street, the Conundrum was answered by an audience member. When they did the retake with the member of the audience I could make myself out in the crowd.

Judge Rinder. Me and the wife got tickets to watch this at Media City at such short notice. But we watched three trials being filmed. I know I’ve seen at least two of them and was able to spot myself and the wife in the audience/courtroom.

Not quite TV, but I was on Absolute Radio last year as part of a phone in on the Breakfast show. That happened solely because of a response from Twitter. That was certainly quite an insight, as I was for the most part listening to the radio live over my phone until you shortly before when you’re prepped and then you’re live speaking to the presenters. Got to speak with Dave Berry who was very nice throughout.

I've got mentioned in Points of View once after writing in about that 3 hour bus ride programme on BBC4. Also I think my hand was visible during a report on Notts TV, both in 2016.

Other than that, nothing else, but I was mentioned before on radio, in particular, Gem 106 during the school run where they used to read out messages on who the parents picked up.

I made it on to a few local BBC radio shows last year through phone in games. I got fed up of BBC Radio London on nights talking about Trump, Boris etc that I decided to listen to the rest of the country. I took part in some phone in quizzes that the smaller BBC local stations do at that time of night. I got featured on BBC Radio Solent, Newcastle & Manchester. It was amusing listening to one of the hosts sound confused as to how someone from my part of London which he’s never heard of before ends up phoning in to his radio show and the chat went on from there and once I gave my answer the quiz the phone line just went dead.

I appeared on a local Tyne Tees programme DIY TV, which was presented by a (rather young) Eamonn Holmes. The theatre group I performed with made a play about the Newcastle riots, and several of the cast were interviewed alongside police, firefighters etc who attended the incidents.

My right shoulder also briefly appeared in an episode of Granada’s series Families, which was filmed at my uni campus in Didsbury.

I’m not sure how many they film in a day, but we went to a recording that began at 10:00am. The first two trials were straightforward and lasted only slightly longer than they would appear on TV. However, the final one went on for almost two hours, more so because the defendant was acting difficult. Recording had to stop twice whilst Robert went out of the studio to make a couple of phone calls in relation to the case. By the end some of the audience were getting a bit agitated due to the time that had passed. By the time the we left the studio it was after 2:30pm.

The second and third trials we saw filmed were shown as part of the same episode. I’ve never seen the first trial however.
