Sky News: 2021 Refresh

Not give Kay freedom to walk round the entire set and nail down individual positions so that the lighting can be less soft and broad, and more targeted and hard. Not going to happen, really.

Interesting

Special branding?

The midnight programme had Vote 2021 branding similar to what we saw for Hartlepool and the local elections. The News at Ten branded slide was just because it was promoted during News at Ten, during the day it in was in Sky News blue and on Sky News Tonight there was different one using their branding. Vanessa Baffoe was doing other news from studio 6 overnight too, first time I’ve seen studio 6 since the refresh.

JamesWorldNews post_id=25348 time= user_id=1044 Wrote:Kay getting ripped into the Conservative Party Co-chair this morning over Hancock’s rule breaking during the pandemic. And demanding an update on the enquiry. Kay isn’t letting it go and repeatedly using the word “snogging” and repeatedly stating that Hancock “broke the law”. The Tory guest has just thrown it back at Kay, noting that Kay herself has “broken rules”. Kay admits that she was sanctioned and taken off air for six months. Kay keeps going at it. Wow.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

But the right way to go! Burley is Back!

And this just proves how right it was for Kay to return to Sky News, especially the morning slot. Handled perfectly by Kay, left Ms Milling looking a little caught out. And Kay didn’t stop asking the questions, which were perfectly reasonable.
Dangerously straying into rosters chat here but so strange to see Adam Boulton presenting on a Saturday lunchtime. I’d like to wildly speculate he was rostered when it was still thought Batley & Spen would prompt huge political fall-out (I think AB was on a few weeks ago after one of the other by-elections)
Sophy Ridge is away. So perhaps Adam is filling-in some slots that Sophy would normally have taken.

He has done a few weekend shifts recently. Nothing odd about it, really, they’re just using the pool of presenters they have available.
I would have thought Sky News would want to build up the Kay Burley 'brand' after 6 months off-air, but 4 weeks after her return she is away for 2 weeks.
I suspect similar rules apply to paid suspensions as they do to maternity leave and furlough - you still accrue holiday throughout the period, which you can then take upon your return to work.

A bit unfair of me to bring this back, but has the removal of in-vision weather been postponed, or been cancelled?

No idea I’m afraid!

Weirdly despite being off, she's continuing to tweet videos from the programme on her personal account every day, with #kayburley. Is this the Sky News team handling her account while she's off I wonder?

Yes, this has been the case for a while now. Producers often manage presenter Twitter accounts whilst on-air; the same was true of Stephen Dixon when he was presenting Breakfast earlier this year.
Adam Boulton visibly annoyed on air just now, rolling his eyes and throw his hands up during a live to Martin Brunt on the Sarah Everard case.
That’s not like Adam. He’s normally so level-headed.

Imagine him on GB News.
Also Problems with Sky News Tonight/Westminster this evening it seems, Belle Donati didn’t reappear after a break and Gillian took over from the Glass Box from just before 8:30.
