A documentary called True Crime was advertised on itv for… ITV2?. I thought a documentary like that would be on the main channel

It does make sense to be aimed at an ITV2 audience. The first ep is the murder of a student backpacker, and involves meeting someone on tinder. All relatable for the ITV2 audience.

5star has a lot of true crime style of docos similar to this.

Is certainly an increasing blurring of the lines between what we're "yoof TV" channels and the channel they're spun off from. E4 have a celebrity cooking show in the works for example.

Yes, will be interesting to see how these rate next week. I am going to guess not very well, because not a lot on ITV2 outside of Love Island seems to. But it’s nice to see them trying something a little bit different.

They’ve had a sitcom and now a documentary in 2021, which is diversifying the channels content somewhat. Almost feels a bit BBC Three .

I do think this new documentary series will do well to be honest. Highly doubt it would bring big Love Island numbers of course...

I think it’s a good subject matter & important to have programmes on these subjects. But will viewers know it’s there on ITV2? That’s probably the biggest issue.

I think it’s a good subject matter & important to have programmes on these subjects. But will viewers know it’s there on ITV2? That’s probably the biggest issue.

I mean ITV have a week to promote it and make people aware it's on ITV2.

Sometime this week they'll probably put together something to plug it in the news, like they often do for Tonight and All Around Britain.

Sadly, it would also be seen as some box-ticking exercise given that ITV like the BBC have neglected younger audiences which has nurtured the idea that "yoof" programmes are more suited to a secondary channel and out the way.

I suspect it wouldn't do well on ITV whereas I think it can reach more 16-34s on ITV2 even if it only does say 0.150-0.250m.

I suspect it'll get a repeat on ITV itself. What scheduling it on ITV2 does is make it stand out - we wouldn't be talking about it if it was just yet another crime documentary on ITV.

ITV2 did a factual commissioning round and this was commissioned as part of that so it wouldn’t have been made at all if it wasn’t for ITV2. It wasn’t a case of choosing to put it on 1 or 2.

Sitting On A Fortune under 2 million for its first episode. Moneyball again at 1.6.

Out of the two I preferred Sitting On A Fortune. It was a a different concept and I liked how the gameplay changed through the show, in comparison Moneyball was the same all the way through, and I felt like I didn’t care for any of the contestants.

Agree that Sitting on a Fortune is the better format, Moneyball just feels like it’s lacking. They need to add another element like a question to change the chance of winning in the final round. I don’t think it’s great that the chance of winning the money are total luck. Whereas on Rolling In It (for example) your chance of winning increases the more questions you get right in the final round.

With Sitting, I just wish the chairs would move around somehow themselves. It’s a primetime show, but people getting up & shuffling themselves around channels feels a bit daytime.
