The sooner GMB get a permanent lead presenter in the better. So far I have been impressed with Sean and Alaistair (Although wooden teh first day he got better as teh week went on)

When he kept going on about hugging Suzanna this morning..... Came across as very cringy indeed.

Says something when you are actually looking forward to welcoming Richard Madeley back. Confusedhock:
Bill Turnbull to return next week...

Quite like how tongue in cheek that promo is. It sets you up in thinking that a certain other former presenting partner of Suzanna’s is coming back.
They're really overemphasising the "long-standing" partnership of Bill and Susanna - it was only after Sian left in 2012 that Susanna took the front end of the week at BBC Breakfast alongside Bill, and then she left two years later to join GMB?

And wasn’t Susanna absent from Breakfast quite a bit in late 2013 when she was on Strictly? As there was loads of speculation about her joining ITV, did she return in early 2014, can’t seem to find her last BBC programme.

They did similar about Kate and Eamonn as a partnership, when actually they never were an official pairing iirc and yes they were colleagues for about five years but didn’t present together all that frequently. It was particularly odd because actually Charlotte did have a long term on screen partnership with Eamonn, anchoring Sky News Sunrise for 7 years together, which they referenced but didn’t focus on.
I guess Susanna did most of her breakfast shifts with Charlie then. Could he actually be a good shout - I think let off the BBC leash he could actually fit in pretty well and it has the bonus of disrupting the opposition slightly by poaching one of their anchors and getting a few "snatch of the day" style headlines.

I think she was on Breakfast for the early part of 2014 - until January or even February before "gardening leave" and the defection to itv, if I recall correctly.

Agree with the notion that it was much more Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams that was considered the golden pairing at Breakfast. As I've stated earlier on this thread, when Breakfast returned briefly to London in summer 2012 for the Olympics, they reunited Bill and Sian for those special weeks, rather than using Susanna Reid.

If they want to claw some of their lost audience back since Piers Moron's departure, I don't think recreating a BBC Breakfast pairing on itv is the way to go, personally - however much Charlie Stayt is given "free rein" because he's on itv all of a sudden. Just my opinion though.

Charlie did have much more of a personality on Saturday Kitchen so could work well on GMB but don't think the pairing would attract any sort of media attention or increase in viewers

I think it's clear though they need to prioritise somebody who can do the job rather than bringing in a "name" - as frankly the names aren't really out there. It does feel like two months after Piers left they're not really any closer to filling the role. IMO they need to get somebody in that seat permanently from September - the longer they go on with guest hosts, the longer it feels like they're finding Piers to be irreplaceable. It could even be the case they need to hire someone even if they axe them six months later just to break that link, as replacing say Adil Ray would probably be an easier task than replacing Piers Morgan.

I think these stunt bookings are a way to buy some time. It takes the heat off a little bit. At the same time the show can experiment a little to see what could work.
Great to see Bill Turnbull on Good Morning Britain this morning.

There were no Headlines at 6AM or 6:30. I imagine due to a technical error but could it be a new thing?
Some technical hitches today. No headline opening sequence at the TOTH and half past 6 that would typically follow after the ITV logo, just instantly switches over to the intro starting off with today’s date and the catwalk screens on the right side of the plasma is also completely blank. There was also no 7 day outlook on the 6:30AM weather.
There was no headline sequence at 6.30, it went straight from the ITV logo into the opening titles. I must say that Bill is looking really well.

This screenshot (taken from a TV Live video on YouTube) shows the screens blank / powered off.

Whilst the screens were off, they were avoiding using this section of the studio as a backdrop, so Charlotte started the 6am news bulletin sat at the desk, rather than stood in front of the screens, and Dr Hillary was sat back in the old 'sofa area'.

Screens were functional again after the 6:45~ ad break
