Was just thinking about this. I wonder if they've done a separate part 1 for the international broadcasts. Because him saying he's live for the first time & the UK centric top 3 or whatever this feature is called won't be relevant.

I do wonder why they've drawn attention to him being live for the first time? It wasn't totally obvious to casual viewers he hasn't been..

I think the sound is a little off tonight.

Good to see him being more UK-centric tonight. I’m struggling to see how this cuts through in the US and Aus though. That said, I’m happy to watch Last Week Tonight which presumably rates ok here given it goes out on Sky Showcase.

A couple of things from Piers' opening monologue, which certainly injects more pace than the first editions of the show.

Piers has led with a UK story on COVID-19 and care homes. I wonder if this will be tailored for other editions.

Also, on the supporting footage they'd used from government press conferences and the House of Commons, which had the quality of clips downloaded from YouTube, they'd obscured DOGs in the corner of the screen.

What I watched until 8.20 was much stronger than the previous two nights. As mentioned, UK centric news stories in his monologue and the Sharon Osbourne interview bar the Meghan stuff seemed genuinely interesting.

Intrigued as to who holiday cover will be given Piers took a lot of time off at GMB. Osborne? Kyle? Ditto for The News Desk.

My guess is Kate McCann will dep for Tom.

As for the Morgan show, considering it's for three international markets, I think they'll give it a break when he's off and extend either The News Desk or The Talk to two hours.

Suspect part of the reason they’ve poached Sarah Hewson to be Royal Editor is so she can dep for Tom. 

Also think Sharon Osborne is most likely cover for Piers. She’s the only one who has the international profile and it explains her presence on The Talk - keeps her on the payroll, but I think this plan may change.

That is very well done, the over the top graphics from The Day Today were a major part of it being so funny.
The brain on these graphics is exactly the sort of thing I can imagine Chris Morris talking about.

Finally got around to properly watching this clip. It does feel almost like someone made the Piers title sequence to that theme tune, before switching the music over upon completion of the title graphics.

The quality of picture and sound of TalkTV taking PMQs vs GB News is quite glaring, GB News looks like it’s taking an online feed. TalkTV in Full HD.

It won't be full HD, I'm pretty sure Parliament is still SD 

I'm very reliably informed the main cameras in the chamber are now native HD, and so is the tx feed to the broadcasters. The pictures hardly sparkle though,  must be the subdued lighting!

BBC Parliament is now an HD channel on Virgin Media.

She’s been fired from a programme called ‘The Talk’ and she’s now been hired for a programme called ‘The Talk’. Hope that clears things up.

Catching up on The News Desk, I'm surprised Kate McCann didn't dash from Westminster again tonight for the news review. Instead her former Sky colleague Adam Boulton was on.

I think the obvious solution is for GB News and Talk TV to merge. I think it was a mistake to put Jeremy Kyle on the screen from the get go, I'm afraid it is possibly putting people off the whole thing and stinks of a bygone era of previous scandals regurgitated on screen.

Another person on here noticed Daily Mail were pushing GB news a lot more, I have noticed it today. Weird!

BBC Parliament itself went HD a long time before the cameras in Parliament itself went HD!

Piers wants his ratings compared to BBC & Sky News, but they are not comparable. His show is entertainment, not news.

I think Piers has a point, the ratings should be compared to both BBC News and Sky News as well GB News. I wouldn't class what Piers is doing as entertainment either. It might not be news but it's certainly not what I would class as an entertainment show, surely that is something like Britains Got Talent or Gogglebox.
