So, on this channel that's all about 'what's going on, not what's going wrong', which is also vehemently against 'cancel culture', what were the first two pieces of editorial content?

Er, a rant about how awful it'll be if Covid restrictions arent lifted on the 21st, and an attack on Angela Rayner for something she said on Twitter.

I deliberately reserved judgement until the channel launched, but I have to say that I haven't seen anything tonight to suggest that the pre-launch fears and criticisms weren't justified.

I suspect over time we’ll see less Dan Wootton and more of the likes of Halligan & Piero. He’s there presumably because he has the experience of generating rolling chat and monologues but I suspect he’ll be too tabloid for them. I always wanted Times Radio on TV and I think a lot of the other shows will feel more like that.

Essentially though those who wanted it to fail will think it’s terrible, those who are desperate for it will forgive anything, and those like me who aren’t that fussed either way will accept it’s early days and give it time to settle in.
