On a scheduling note, I see there will still be instances where The Situation Room will still be two hours and The Lead being an hour beginning with tonight and all next week with The Lead on for an hour at 4pm ET (9pm UK) and The Situation Room from 5pm-7pm ET. (10pm-12am UK) Makes me think Jake will be off and they have decided that the cover will only do an hour.

Well then you would have heard the news that Scripps is expanding the streaming news channel. And they are opening a new HQ in Atlanta, leaving a small bureau but closing the Chicago studios and consolidating every thing there. Which is nuts to reinvent the wheel in Atlanta when you have perfectly fine studios and most of your studio presenters already live in Chicago, all which either will leave the channel or be forced to relocated to Atlanta.
The stupid thing is CNN already had Headline News which they screwed around with so much they left the door open for CBSN, ABCNewsLIVE and Newsy amongst other streaming channels. How stupid. But also the fact the channel has seemingly been abandoned and allowed to flounder rudderless. And these people that run the network makes millions of dollars a year to make stupid decisions. And clearly there is still a small appetite for traditional rolling news channel and they couldnt figure out a model to make Headline News work when it clearly doesnt anymore in these current iterations.

It does make sense to have another anchor in Abu Dhabi - Connect The World’s specialism is that Middle East region so if you’re having to present from London or Atlanta whenever Becky is off it does make the show feel a bit generic and like a glorified Newsroom.
The fill-in anchors like Lynda Kinkade will presumably still have plenty of other slots to cover like the Newsroom bulletins, Hala Gorani Tonight and One World.
Is Manu standing in the Capitol for that shot? The edges of his suit on the background almost look like he is standing before a greenscreen?
He was in the Capitol in that shot. He mostly is when they are there.

Two things I noticed this weekend. First is that Smerconish has new graphics and opening on his show (Much better looking btw) though I can't remember if it was this week that it debuted or last week. Also Phil Mattingly was covering Inside Politics Sunday yesterday and someone can correct me if I am wrong but I think that's the first time Mattingly has been on presenting cover. Thought he did a pretty decent job.
