Sky News: 2021 Refresh
Seems pointless to me, there's already live in the corner.

Just takes away space which could be better used to give more detail of what is actually happening.
Should be noted that it only appeared with that story text, any further information appeared on its own. I think it works in that context as it's explaining that you're watching a live debate, with it being ditched once more information comes in.

I would guess in further uses it could contain a general heading, like what was used previously where if enough space was left over, then a heading would appear alongside a name caption on a Breaking strap.

That's already being explained in the top right hand corner, there really isn't a need for it a second time. Far more useful to have more space to actually describe what is going on.

If people really can't deduce that 'LIVE The Commons' with a strap saying there is a debate going on, means the debate is live, then I'm not sure anything is going to help them figure that out.

I don't have a problem with having a general heading, but the live part is unnecessary clutter that adds nothing.

It’s the same as what they used to do with having “MATT HANCOCK PRESS CONFERENCE [LIVE]” (with the live in a red box), they’ve just moved it to the other end of the strap.

Here is how the "live" in the strap works on non-breaking news:

After one week with the new graphics I have to say I have never been more convinced of them . Presentationwise, SkyNews got the balance between too much and too little right this time! I love the program stings for AOP and SNT, especially because a proper audio design is back that reminds me of the great 2004 era before the big relaunch. I ABSOLUTELY adore the into-break sting. Also the impact-like font looks quite slick despite its dominance due to the thick letters and can underline the story when needed. Also I am glad that the outside shots of the box are back. And yes the theme is marvelous especially because we finally have an alternate bed again which is also used. The ToTH is visually a bit flat but the music really creates a fulminant moment .The only thing I still find horrifying is the glass box backdrop above all when the sun is out which makes the backdrop walls glow yellowish and green which is such a weird colour for a news channel background. Wasn't the problem somehow in 2016 when the glass box launched. All in all I would like to express my enthusiasm about this refresh . Well done !
Looks like Kay is off self-isolating as one of the team has tested positive for COVID.

I guess we're either gonna get Kay Burley from her lounge (like when she was isolating after going over to the states for the US Election last November, or we're gonna be back to one of either Niall, Stephen or Gillian hosting the breakfast show for the next 10 days

The tweet doesn’t explicitly say that though? Not everyone in the Breakfast team works from Millbank or has face to face contact with Kay on a daily basis.
To me "I’ll see you soon" suggests she’ll be off too.

Niall Paterson tweeted to say he is covering 7-10 today with Sam Naz having to do a marathon stint from midnight to 7am!
Nice new Kay Burley-specific DTL background.

I'm getting Sky News 2008-2010 vibes?

I think there is this background because Rob is sat in the Westminster studio alone as Niall is presenting from Sky centre
