After 30 years, Newswatch on GBC in Gibraltar was rebranded as GBC News last month. The final edition of Newswatch included this look back at the newscast's various visual identities over the years:

In my opinion I think the Nordics in general have done a much better job for news presentation in Europe. The BBC set the tone 20 years ago but have since been lost in dust. The BBC cant or wont innovate their look. Even though it has changed over the years, it feels the same. Which personally I dont like. If you are going to go thru the time and expense to change something....then change it. As far as the Nordic networks goes, i like the themes and the graphics are clean and well presented as well as the sets. And when they update the graphics, its usually a full update, not something slightly changed that the average viewer will never notice. If you are gonna change something. CHANGE IT!

Anchor Brian Williams is leaving MSNBC and NBC News
Williams' exit from NBC has an end-of-an-era feel. He was a key player in the launch of the MSNBC news channel in 1996, manning breaking news coverage and a prime time recap of the day. Then he became one of America's best-known newsmen during his decade at the helm of the "NBC Nightly News," one of the most-watched news programs in the US. His "Nightly" tenure was cut short in 2015 when he was found to have exaggerated some stories in interviews. He was suspended for six months and was replaced by Lester Holt on the "Nightly News." But he embraced his new assignment on MSNBC and was able to essentially reinvent himself.

I understand, but if that is the case, we may see a refresh in the BBC News branding next year. The reason that we kept the 2008 BBC News brand design for so long was probably because the British are not really keen on any change to something as much as the Nordics. And maybe because they intend to use it until it really runs dry.

WPVI Philadelphia anchor Jim Gardner is retiring at the end of 2022, he's been the anchor of the 6 and 11pm bulletins on the ABC O&O since 1977. Here's a bulletin from that year followed by his retirement announcement.

From Colorado Springs, Colorado, now Nexstar owned KXRM's newscast from November 12 2001, back when the station was owned by Raycom and newscasts were produced by KKTV in Colorado Springs . The station launched newscasts in 2001, ended up starting their own department in 2006 when the same anchors in the video, the male anchor is news director of the station now. The music used was used until 2016.

As part of a day-long warmup event called "Super Sunday", Denmark's TV 2 has today revealed its election centre for local government elections (to be held on Tuesday). A purpose built set has been erected in the main corridor of TV 2's headquarters in Odense. The building used to be a cattle market (the main backdrop behind the presenters - not shown below - includes an old sign warning against allowing animals through the hallway!). The green screen opposite the desk is used for a kind of AR, with graphics superimposed over a model of the real corridor behind it.
Here is a video of the set's construction (and a sample of the opening titles- the letters and colours representing the political parties): https://vimeo.com/645141338 ![]() Source TV 2 is also the network to which Denmark's regional TV stations are linked. All the TV 2 regions also have special formats and coverage of the local races. For example, the local station in and around Copenhagen has been holding televised debates for all the local councils in its coverage area - from a set up in the middle of Copenhagen's central train station. ![]() Source The local station for the island of Funen has its own special format, where it locks a group of candidates from competing parties in a room, where the walls gradually close in. Quite a literal expression of the pressure to reach an agrement! Unfortunately, I don't have any video or caps of the coverage, but will keep an eye out.

Ukrainian ICTV today presents a new graphic and new virtual decoration for their news - Fakty.
If compare with the intro from 2020, we draw conclusions that the 2021 intro is much better, but anyway lose to the 2011 intro. For example, the intro from 2020:

Ukrainian newscast Fakty ICTV today introduces a new logo, new graphic package and updated virtual decoration. And I think, that is much better. Anyway, it slightly looks like the 2008 intro.
