Surprised she said Marr is on "tomorrow morning"

Is Marr live or pre-Rec?

The paper review and Priti Patel interview segments were live, but there are normally inserted pre recorded interviews, such as those with Esther Rantzen and Jenny Harries in this edition.

In general it seems thd interviews that aren't with politicians are usually recorded. I presume this is a mixture of reducing risk of connections going down and simplifying swapping guests entering and leaving the studio without appearing in shot alongside maintaining distance as much as possible.

I see, do they normally record those interviews a few hours before?

It depends who it is, but usually yes.

I expect this is partially the case, but a lot of the non-politician interviews were pre-recorded pre-pandemic and were rarely in the studio. Even when they bothered to come into NBH, they were generally recorded during the week - often in Studio A with an unusually good VR set. IIRC, these interviews tended to come towards the end of the show and were presumably an opportunity to allow the musical guests to set-up.
With no wish to turn this into presenter-rota-talk - has Ben Mundy presented before on the News Channel? I haven't seen him before. He mentioned it was the first time he was presenting The Papers tonight.

He has presented twice - Sunday 18th April and Sunday 2nd May, both 2-7 shift.
It’s been mentioned in the Newsnight thread that Newsnight will start earlier at 2230 starting 21 June, so will BBC News at Ten be shortened again?
I’ve just noticed that the last few days on News at 10 on the headlines, they don’t opt to the regions… rather have the sports headline? This is on BBC1 HD

That’s normal on BBC One HD unless you’re in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

I believe BBC One HD has always done that (simulcasting what is shown on the news channel) as the English regions are not available on BBC One HD.

Network BBC One does not opt to regions during the headline sequence of the 1, 6, 10, showing sport headlines instead. Before that it was BBC London, and in the late 90s it was Newsroom South East.

Thank you, thought I was going mad!

that makes sense, hence why they say "... and on the news channel" to remind people to switch over if they want the sport afterwards!
On that topic, is it programmed for every show to always have the same duration for the opt out/sport headline that they have to work to or can it be extended or shortened dependant on if theres a longer sport or local headline?
