Last Saturday, coinciding with their 20th anniversary of its launch as a Porto-based local news channel called NTV (which RTP bought in 2003, relaunching it one year later as a national news channel called RTPN, to compete with market leader SIC Notícias), the channel’s graphics were completely revamped. Not only RTP3’s programmes were affected, but also RTP1’s Telejornal, which debuted the changes today, and even dropping the 2016 theme music in the orchestral re-recording premiered during their 60th anniversary (RTP3 still retains their music). Additionally, Ana Lourenço (a former SIC presenter who joined RTP in 2018) is leaving RTP3’s late night news analysis programme 360º, joining José Rodrigues dos Santos and João Adelino Faria as one of Telejornal’s alternating presenters, mostly anchoring on weekends and public holidays. As unfortunate it is so see the old Telejornal theme go, as it has since been one of my favorites, I am LOVING the graphics here. It fuses a clock, radar, 2D and 3D, as well as gradients. Quite lovely.

Al Jazeera's original Arabic channel celebrates its 25th anniversary today.
At 6pm (Doha time) they launched their new look with long-time presenter Khadija Ben Guenna. Here's the first 10 minutes, including a look at the huge new studio and some of the branding for the channels flagship programmes... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D4C9JbqLB0&t=3s Credit Terminal Biss on YouTube

Although Al Jazeera has had some sort of Americanised branding, the new look really puts them in the line of Al Arabiya and Asharq, with its OTT looks which have lots of Americanised and European elements. Their huge studio has Clickspring all over the place: dividing the space into two studios and an AR/virtual audience studio, lots of videowalls and video floors, and clean, versatile elements. And the music is, with no doubt, a Stephen Arnold Music work. Beautiful!

It looks like it is not the only world news channel changing looks today. The Spanish version of RT has gone flat today (no doubt soon the English and Arabic channels will adopt this look):

RT en Español really does look better than the dated graphics the English service currently use.
Is that a steady cam in use for that bulletin?

Continuing on this, TV Jovem Pan News is the broadcaster's second attempt to launch a TV channel. The first attempt was in 1991, when Jovem Pan received a license to operate UHF channel 16 in São Paulo. The channel launched as a test transmission in September, airing 12 hours worth of movies, documentaries, some local programming and sports coverage, including some delayed Brasileirão games, commented by current Band commentator Milton Neves. However, disputes with management (which included educational mogul João Carlos di Genio and journalist Fernando Vieira de Mello) led to the channel selling a part of the shares to print mogul and raid investor Hamilton Lucas de Oliveira. It worsened, however, the situation: the station closed in 1995 after a parliament investigation which accused Tuta Carvalho and Lucas de Oliveira of fiscal fraud. The channel was replaced by teleshopping services, whilst its studios in Barra Funda were bought by RecordTV owner Edir Macedo (bishop of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God) and promptly moved its national headquarters to that space. Then, Tutinha Carvalho decided to launch a TV station once again, and announced on his Linkedin the launch of the channel, then under the working name of Jovem Pan 24:News. After a period of few information, by June, rumours surfaced in Brazilian media that Jovem Pan was considering buying the license of UHF channel 32 in São Paulo. which once housed the legendary MTV Brasil (owned by the Abril Group) and which was bought by a joint-venture of magazine publisher Spring Comunicação and the owners of Kalunga, a major stationary shop chain in the country. The channel was transformed in December as Loading, a pop culture/anime/K-pop channel which launched with much hype, but it closed in June marred by controversies over the firing of their news team and poor working conditions. Although the channel still is on air under Loading, a Brazilian jury issued a cease-and-desist order to the Ministry of Communications ordering the cancellation of the license due to irregularities on the transaction, which ultimately made the Jovem Pan deal void. The channel eventually launched as a FTA C-Band channel and thru main TV providers, like Claro, Sky and Vivo. Part of its programming is also available through its AVOD streaming platform Panflix and internationally through the Jovem Pan YouTube channels. The channel broadcasts most of Jovem Pan's talk programming, like Jornal da Manhã (which still broadcasts two hours on History Brasil), Jovem Pan Morning Show, Pânico, Os Pingos nos Is, Três em Um and Pré Jogo, as well as specially produced programming, such as Jornal Jovem Pan, Headline News and Jovem Pan Business. Because of its strong pro-Bolsonaro bias (even more so than the other outlet as such, RecordTV, and other outlets which support him), it also airs partisan documentaries from Brasil Paralelo, an independent producer of content known for its strong pro-Bolsonaro bias and content with propagandist undertones. Presentation side note: the music package they are using is the WTOP 2020 package from ReelWorld. Jovem Pan is a longtime user of ReelWorld, having using resings of their jingles for its news and CHR networks.
