Why? Plus, there is red in the design, it's just not the dominant colour. For my two cents, I don't see a problem with the studio - it works and the backdrop distinguishes it from other programmes in the same space.

i don’t agree they should have at least changed the backdrop and put the inset graphic in there, maybe they did try and found that the inset was out of focus, who knows.

I don't think just focus is the issue - the screens behind the presenter are a pretty poor resolution.

As with the Outside Source titles, if this is going to be the direction of the new BBC News titles, I'm not complaining.

I thought the blue-gradient-fill border inset was strongly reminiscent of the late 80s Witchellian-era Six. (But then I hear the Newsround theme tune in the current English regional outro cuts too, so I may just be weird.)

Context just looks and sounds like all the other BBC News programmes I never watch. I don’t get who they’re aimed at.

I'm not particularly bothered by US politics, but I don't think this is a fair comparison. Day-to-day US politics does have repurcussions on British politics in a way that simply isn't true vice versa. Domestic political issues may not seem relevant, but they are necessary context if you want to understand why a certain election result has happened. (Also today US outlets are actually covering UK politics for a change).

Also, I don't really think that Context is made with the British market in mind. It's only simulcast in the UK because the BBC News channel is slowly working their way down to producing 0 hours of original content. I would imagine its skewed more heavily towards US politics than Katty and Christian because the BBC is returning to its pre-Brexit state of providing the bare minimum amount of coverage of European politics.

I watched Context last night. Sarah Vine and Pippa Crerar were the main guests.

I don’t understand what is the purpose of this programme for a domestic audience, let alone a global one.

There are more than enough programmes featuring panels of journalists and political pundits on the BBC and elsewhere. Indeed, Pippa Crerar, who is no doubt an excellent journalist, was on Newsnight only a few hours later.

Overall, it just gives the impression that BBC News budgets are very stretched.

The critical and popular success of Ros Atkins’ explainer videos shows exactly what the BBC should be focusing on, namely good solid reporting.

I would absolutely love Katty Kay to come back to the BBC if it were to happen, putting her and Christian back together could be the final piece of the puzzle for making Context a success (in BBC News terms anyway)

If it's true that Katty Kay is in talks to possibly bring her back to the BBC, that would be amazing. She left on good terms and in the whole time of 100 Days, Beyond 100 Days and the "BBC News with Katty and Christian" always looked really professionally done for a distance-linked broadcast, and they both worked very well as presenters. ?
