I wonder how watertight his contract is at GB News? I can imagine someone there will be making enquires over the coming days to ensure he's locked in...
Be interesting to see how talkTV plans to fill the primetime schedule - which seems to be all they're hinting at right now? Piers on for 1 hour, but then what?

I guess by calling themselves 'talkTV' instead of 'News UK' it ensures they don't fall into the trap of people pointing out the irony of limited news content despite the channel name, as per GB News. Think it's fair to assume that "there will be proper hourly news bulletins" is an unsubtle dig at GB News.
I've speculated before but it would be interesting if News UK were to buy out or do a deal with That's TV and other local channels. It would then allow them to simulcast on channel 7 on Freeview, with a few opt-outs in the schedule for local TV news/programmes to meet the (weak) local criteria. Certainly would be more relevant than showing CBS Reality and jewellery channel.

Well I certainly didn't see this coming... I have to wonder if GB News being the terrible flop that it has gave News UK the impetus to go ahead with this project after all? I understand GBN is supposedly funded for three years - but surely they won't limp on for that long given that this Talk TV will seemingly be GBN but with production standards?

If he goes, then GBN is finished IMO.

Even if it's streaming 24/7 the US model is generally having three or four new hours of content spaced throughout the day looped until the next new hour. They can then top each hour with a "proper news bulletin".

I just can't help but think of 'Granada Talk TV' when I hear the name of this new channel.
What slot will it get on Freeview? EPG 237 after GB News on 236? Or could this get away with bring in the lower general entertainment channels as its more "Talky" and "Chatty debates" than just rolling news like BBC News Channel/Sky News?

A good move to call the channel talkTV rather than News UK, as it gives them more freedom to make a range of programmes and may let them sidestep some elements of Ofcom's rules as not being a full on news channel.
They have a pool of talent to pull on - I can see Chris Evans doing an interview show, for example.

Let GBN go first, let it be an embarrassing failure and then make your move. And of course point out everything that's wrong with GBN and wait with your launch announcement until you have signed a massive name. As for Farage, I don't think they would have any interest in him whatsoever. His audience is limited. I think talkTV or SunTalk (as I suspect it may have turned into by the time it launches), will want to distance themselves from GB News as much as possible. So not sure signing Neil would be as appealing now as it would have been before GB News. I think Farage is far more likely. I think GB News, may have a radical relaunch now they’ve got serious competition though.

The audience they claim to speak for is too small. talkTV will feature presenters with very strong opinions but it will also have serious journalism and news (as per press release). You can't live off causing outrage among a limited audience. You need a far bigger target audience than those who watch Farage go on about the same 4 things he hates over and over again.

I note that it says sports content. I wonder if that'll be sports discussion, perhaps with people already at talkSPORT, or perhaps they'll try to bid for rights? I doubt it, anything worth bidding for would be astronomically expensive for this kind of channel.
