4Music is clearly no longer 4Music but it's content does well and highlights how strong E4 and C4 used to be, and how they're not matching up to that nowadays. Change into something else though.
Something like 4M (which was suggested by some)? Or 4Comedy, although with that name, they would have to get rid of some content.
But maybe they're happy with their strange status quo of 4Music..

Is it my imagination or has E4 not been quite the same since the rebrand? I get the impression it's trying more to be an ITV2 clone in terms of presentation (I know they're aimed at similar audiences) but they just seem to have lost the charm they once had, in my opinion.
I think the rebrand was great, nevertheless, the endboards and some elements of the presentation were so blatantly ITV2-like, I expect much better from Channel 4..
But yeah, E4 has clearly lost some of its "magic" programming-wise

Yes the idents are fantastic and very E4 but the remaining presentation felt like an afterthought.

I don't want to sound "elitist", but do people really watch these programs?
The target changes, with Paramount Network (which they should have closed in favor of keeping 5Spike, really, because it's 5Spike in disguise) is males, the 5Star more general.
With an American company I would've expected better, but ViacomCBS are not that great at managing their channels
I mean, they think Baywatch on Comedy Central is appropriate, and so on.
And I looked at 5USA's schedule, it's the only channel left for American imports, and it's mostly crime..

Arguably the ITV channels have been best at keeping to their brief, with ITV2 now benefiting from ITVBe taking most the constructed reality content.
Struggling now to name the big shows on E4 - can only think of Mafe in Chelsea and Celebs Go Dating.

Honestly I think posters here can get too caught up in this channel showing this show and this channel showing that. Ultimately what their spin-off channels give them are 4 outlets to make advertising revenue, and I don’t think they necessarily care as much as we do here how they achieve that. The bits between the programmes are window dressing but if Naked Attraction pulls in an audience (heaven forbid) then they don’t really care if it’s E4 or 4Seven that delivers it. It’s just 4 alternative schedules of shows really.

For Columbo fans, 5USA is an appalling channel on a Sunday - as it seems they simply churn out the usual rota of repeats of around a dozen episodes from the seventies version and a handful from the ABC era, but never any proper variety.
They jump from the seventies version to the ABC version, and often repeat the same episodes week after week.
Columbo produced 69 episodes - it seems 5USA have only bothered to purchase the broadcasting rights to less than half of them.

This may be the trend since even MTV now sits in the Entertainment section of the Sky EPG, airing copious Cribs and Catfish and
It’s kind of odd seeing Father Ted on 4Music considering it’s quite old by 4Music’s standards. The episode on right now, The Mainland, appears to be one of the pre-watershed edits usually saved for More4. Notable for bleeping Richard Wilson shouting b****rd.

I think the biggest issue with 4Music is it has some good archive content but the audience that would most appreciate it would probably be unaware.

My dad, a pretty typical elderly white male, laps them up, along with (I think) Quest. I suspect he's not alone.

I agree. My stepdad has been watching a lot of Police crime show repeats on Paramount Network recently. They look horribly out of place here. Even the presentation and name of the channel just feels misleading now and isn't fit for a male/crime channel. Felt like a half-hearted decision.
