I’ll put my money on Nugent. She’s been with the programme for over a decade, she’s heavily attributed to Breakfast’s success throughout the pandemic and is already Minchin’s primary cover.

Also, in relation to GMB I don't see them getting Louise as a coup. She is a good but fairly bland presenter, and not someone who would draw an audience to GMB.

Breakfast do have long established form for promoting from within, usually from weekends to weekdays. The only real notable exception to that was bringing in Dan Walker to replace Bill Turnbull, so whilst a new face isn't completely out of the question, it seems much more likely it would be a promotion of an already familiar face.

Seeing as Louise is "looking forward to lots of lie-ins" it seems unlikely that she'd be joining GMB.
A loss to BBC Breakfast, though. Sally Nugent seems most likely as a replacement.

As ever with everything on this site, 'In my opinion' yes, it needs a refresh. It's dull as dishwater. Just because something still rates higher at the moment doesn't mean it is actually good and can't be vastly improved. I don't think it would take much innovation from its competitors to take away its place in the ratings, so they shouldn't rest on their laurels.

I would say that Naga getting the Mon-Wed role allowing Sally Nugent to do the back half of the week was likely but I suppose Naga now has other commitments with 5Live. I can’t see Sally getting Mon-Wed personally, although I think she’d be good at the role.
Victoria Derbyshire is a good shout for well known but still BBC face. But I also think Ranvir Singh is an outside chance - strictly raised her profile but is a bit lost for a ‘big gig’ at ITV and isn’t really GMB’s main relief either. Kay Burley ‘defecting’ or Piers Morgan making a ‘comeback’ or Susanna Reid returning from the ‘sinking ship’ are all very very unlikely!

Whilst Sally and Ranvir are good shouts, I wonder whether Tina Daheley could be one to watch? Has been relief in the past and with her ad hoc appearances on the Six and Ten, could be a good way to “introduce” her more to BBC One audiences...

I think Rachel Burden is the most probable of the current relief presenters, in my opinion. I agree that Naga Munchetty's radio commitments means it's unlikely she'll shift to Monday - Wednesday. Nina Warhurst is good but still pretty "green" in the relief presenter role. I think Sally Nugent's strength is in her current sports role / special reports / relief presenting, but not sure if she'd want the step up to permanent anchor. I could be wrong.
