BBC Newsnight

The end shot was rather boring. A nice wide shot of the set or even the atrium would have been better.

Yeah it even had a little bbc logo on it like they took a screenshot from iplayer

That Nine set is very good much better anything out of NBH, even the virtual graphics look fantastic.
Worth noting that in one of the recent BBC it was mentioned that Newsnight would be presented from outside of London I think possible 50% of the time (or at least a significant percentage). I wonder if using the Nine set is being considered as a permanent option for the times Newsnight comes from Scotland. If I recall correctly the makeshift set they've previously used is in the canteen area, which is hardly a long term solution.

This tweet calls it "our new studio" which sounds like it's not a one-off.

Not the most surprising move if it is indeed permanent or semi-permanent/some days a week. It'd make Wark's commute easier and, given most interviews have been DTL for a while, doesn't really make much difference if the presenter is in London or Glasgow. Also, as they require a crew in for The Nine anyway, probably cheaper than having a studio crew in London and Glasgow for a single programme each.

Wark presented from a corner on the top floor with a chair, coffee table and monitor at some points during the pandemic. Was an extremely basic set up.

IIRC that was the same location as used by Marr when on location for the SNP Conference.

Marr could use the atrium if The Sunday Show wasn't directly after.

It looks decent, but I actually think it’s a bit of a shame that it’s so different to the regular set – hard angles and lines vs. round and curved.
#26
Maybe making sure you notice it's not the usual studio was deliberate?
Write that down in your copybook now
#27
True, and I can see an argument for having them quite different.

He did indeed, that very same weird set up! ;-)

Here is a shot of the Newsnight set up. An Ikea lamp, a Sky News-esque chair and coffee table.
