The Chase & Beat the Chasers

I must say I've quite enjoyed this series. If I have one big gripe about BTC, it's the titles - I've always thought they looked odd and I think it's the combination of 2D video of the chasers and the 3D fully CGI graphics.

Also it clashes with QI on Dave.

It's been a great series and although it missed Paul (because of how quick he is and his comedian side shining through) it has been just as good. Darragh slotted in really well and it's probably great for him to get more confident bringing his own personality to the role.

Will be interesting to see how they reformat it for all 6 chasers. I'd personally change the bottom offer to 3 chasers and move up from there and maybe change the cash builder to £2k per question.

They definitely made the first question easier this series with only one contestant failing and just generally easier questions.

One other thing they seem to have corrected this year is giving offers more in relation to how they do in the cash builder rather than just based on their reputation - I don't think anyone who only got 2 right got an offer over £60k.

The Aussie version worked well with one less chaser and one less offer so will be interesting to see how this works with six - as you said I think they'll keep it to 4 offers with just an extra chaser at each level and hope for the best.

I think they should keep 2 Chasers as a lower option say half of the money that the contestants can banked in the Cash Builder.

Series 4 is happening as they're looking for contestants on ITV Be on TV.

Anne is isolating in Australia to return to their version, with new host Larry Emdur tipped to debut after the Olympics. We're rumours she'd also be added to Beat the Chasers but it's recommissioned is unconfirmed.

It would be great if they could get Anne on the next Australian series of BTC but I've heard she's only out there for 6 weeks of filming so unlikely unless they fly her out again later in the year. Doubt they'll be filming it in the next 6 weeks as 7 haven't totally confirmed it and the applications for contestants are still open.

Really looking forward to seeing Larry Emdur's episodes later in the year.

Not sure why anyone is giving Anne a hard time for going to Australia for work purposes, it's not a holiday.

It would be nice if the Australian Chasers could come and do a guest stint over here once free travel is allowed again.

The new series of the US version of the Chase launches in June and they've added Mark Labbett to their line up!

Pleased to see he's back on US TV after the GSN version was cut after a few seasons. Can't help but think they could really do with a female chaser on that version now though.

Will be interesting to see what other "adjustments" are made as the one that is absolutely necessary to make the offers work is reducing the prize per question to $10k rather than $25k, but I just can't see a US show seemingly reducing it's prize like that - even though in reality the aim would be to get people to play for bigger prizes.

Wonder if they'll drop the "Chasers Lounge" too if they've added a fourth - really don't see the need ATM for a weekly show, although The Beast does add a lot to the show. Agree though it's a female chaser that they need.

I think it must have been the plan for Mark to be in the show from the start.

Glad a UK Chaser is involved. Like it hers thought they might have taken the opportunity to diversify the line up. Also 4 chasers are going to be spread a bit thinly if this run is only as long as the first.

Apparently, there is lots of improvements. I would assume they’ll get rid of The Chaser’s lounge. It probably helped in the first series, to let the viewers know there is a team of Chasers and not just the one on that given show.

Second celebrity special airs on 29th May at 8.30pm.

New trailer for the US show and a game with $80k in play, seems like they might have listened to feedback and changed the cashbuilder from $25k per question to $10k (and upped the reading speed as they only got about 7 questions into a cashbuilder in S1).

They probably realised something was wrong when even viewers said the prize fund was too high.

Amusing that The Beast just wasn’t quite tall enough, so they got him a podium to stand on.

Beat the Chasers appears to be back in the studio filming at the end of July with audience tickets available at SRO Audiences. It appears they will be filming 2 series given the number of recording dates.

14 episodes of Celebrity Chase are also being recorded starting this week.

I do think the celeb version loses something with people coming back to have a second and I think even third go - proves they have too many episodes. If it's unavoidable would rather they did special episodes with returnees themed on how well they did and who they played against. (i.e. Biggest Losers, Beaten the Beast, Lost to the Governess etc.)
