The linked Bristol Post (Reach PLC-owned rag) article is illustrated with a photo of Jemma... from 2007! :o :?

Could they *really* not obtain an image (even if only a screenshot from a Points West bulletin) more recent than that?
MISLEADING HEADLINE "MAKES YOU READ ARTICLE", SAYS NAKED MILEY CYRUS.

I have noticed her absence.

They probably just picked the one in which she looked the most put-out.

Who doesn't love a bit of nostalgia!?

On this day 60 years ago BBC Spotlight was launched!

Here’s just some of the title sequences over years https://youtu.be/4KRW1SQmnE0

Was that second title sequence inspired by either Doctor Who or Bergerac?

The second sequence and theme is from the Sixty Minutes era, which Spotlight continued to use (minus the opening '60' animation) long after the demise of the national programme.

Can't beat a bit of Ed Welch - or Magazine as it's called on a library track somewhere! Smile

Anyone else think they could have made a little more of their 60th anniversary celebrations? Not even a cake!

I don't think it's all been happy times at Plymouth in the last couple of years. Things just don't seem quite the same as they were just a few years back.

Yes for a 60th, all a bit low key.

Remember the brown dots Spotlight- that's definitely late 70s into early 80s.

Got me thinking- David Braine (or James Bond as he looked tonight Wink Big Grin ) was there at Spotlights 40th in 2003 so he must be up there in terms of regional weather presenter longest now?

Mind you I'm old enough for the days of mighty Craig Rich and his little dots on the weather map for a village fete or some event in the region. Craig must be knocking on well into his 80s by now?

Oi! You don't have to be THAT old to remember him (says me, in my slippers...)

Wasn't he last on the show when Hugh Scully passed away to give some fond memories?

Shame they didn't dget him back, but as previously stated, it can't have been a happy year for them there with all the changes and challenges, so not a happy birthday.

I do recall the breakfast bullitens around 1984 ish, which usually had Christopher Slade (?) sat in a recliner with a map of the region behind him. Using all the available technology of the era (well, for a BBC English region that is) place names were indicted during the travel news, and possibly the news too. Or did I dream it all?

It was Chris Slade and the recliner chair I also remember but given I'd have been about 10 years old in 1984, traffic news wasn't high on my list of priorities then. Smile

After the somewhat muted Spotlight celebration, I wonder if today's sixtieth anniversary of the start of Westward TV will even get a mention on ITV tonight?
