I disagree and have never understood the controversy. Ballet is at least as solemn as most of the precedeing Balloon idents and probably more appropriate than any of the idents from the Circle or Oneness packages. The way people carried on you could be forgiven for thinking that they played the Salsa or Tap ident.
I also quite like the Ballet ident on its own terms - it has a serene, tranquil beauty to it and is probably one of my favourite idents from the set. Though I do understand that my appreciation for the Rhythm and Movement idents puts me very much in the minority.

It was quite incredible what she pulled off between announcing on the NC and then all networks. I think anyone sat in the chair when the inevitable happens is going to be stung for one reason or another. The pressures put upon one must be so insane.

The reason to use a still version of the idents was taken so that none of them could stop (and potentially drop to black or worse) on air if there was a delay in taking the news. A silent still version is never going to “stop” |
