I admit I always hate those echoey reverb effects they put on these flashback/drunk/disoriented sequences, always reminds me of the times I've passed out... especially the sensations when you first come round, a horribly unpleasant experience! I know that's the intention but still, it almost feels like the capture it too well.

Had the opening titles on tonight's first episode been put through a weird 'smoothing' process? They looked off.

Yup, looks that way to me. I had to check my settings to make sure I hadn't put smoothing on by mistake.

Tonight's episodes are a bit out of the norm though so it might have been a mistake in editing.

Ha - glad it wasn't just me! Coincidentally, our TV installed a firmware update earlier today. I thought it had changed a setting.

It had the same appearance you'd expect when 25p material goes through a TV's interpolation feature.

I was pretty sure some/all of the break bumpers had the same effect, though it was harder to tell.

I have to say, I really enjoyed tonight's episodes though. The 'who did what' element didn't entirely work for me, because I was almost certain it was Corey all along, so there was no big twist tonight. But the flashbacks were very effective. Seb's final scene was quite brutal. I hope Corey goes down.

I wonder if someone's decided they want the opening titles to match the look of the show itself... not that it really works if that's the intention, it's been done badly. If they wanted that done they should have gone to the people who Vidfire the telerecordings of old BBC shows. Or made new opening titles shot at 50Hz to begin with.

The press release at the time said the titles were future-proofed and were even made in 3D should they need it - could be there is even a 50p or 4K version on a hard drive somewhere.

I noticed at the end of the first ITV3 episode today that they kept the tribute to Brian Mosley slide within the credits, I always thought the tributes were added live or omitted from repeats.

And it looks like they’ve stopped editing on the Granada Production for IT\= slides now, as we’re well into 1999.

Are the titles back to normal? It's a little hard to tell when the motion is so slow, but the cat-on-the-roof shot looked "filmy" again.

At least they're back on location in an actual court for this trial storyline, rather than the obvious sets they've been using for courtroom scenes for the last year.

Titles normal tonight too. I can understand how something can be filmised accidently (happens far too often), but I wonder how a smoothing filter could have been applied accidentally, I wonder if it was an intentional decision... and why.

That particular episode started with a surreal dream/flashback sequence. I wonder if it was just an attempt to do something a bit different?

Mind you, that wouldn't necessarily explain the break bumpers. Hmm.

Is this the first bit of location filming we’ve seen since production resumed after the first lockdown?

Depends on whether you count the bits next to the canal on the episode where Seb got killed... but even that was right next to the studios. Unless you count that, then yes it is.

Noticed as Grantchester back next next Friday Corrie is back to it's split episodes on Friday nights , do prefer the hour long Friday episode isn't ratings for it better than the old split Friday ones anyway?
Grantchester couldnt be screened as a post 9pm show at 8.30 as it's hardly an adult drama ?

What are others views on hour long Corrie ? I'd honestly rather have all 3 nights of Corrie an hour remove split episodes , if itvs evening began at 6.30pm with the chase then Emmerdale at 7.30 Corrie at 8pm for an hour.

Just seems itv only wants split Friday episodes back when it's actually got something new at 9pm for stronger lead in but definitely prefer the hour long Friday got used to it now Grantchester could have gone 8.30!!!

Personally I prefer an 'hour long episode' to a half hour gap between the episodes although I almost always record them and watch back to back on Mon/Wed/Fri later in the evening. I did binge watch at weekends for a while but got into the habit of watching the same day now. I agree, its whatever suits ITV whether they show an hour or half hour. If they are showing a 2 hour drama such as Vera on a Friday it makes sense to show Corrie as an hour otherwise the news would be moved to 11pm (which probably wouldn't be that much of an issue on a Friday night).

Corrie has been excellent the past few weeks with the flashback episode and trial episodes. Even the stuff with Todd/George/Eileen was good. I hope Corrie can keep the standard going as we go into the autumn and winter.

On today's second ITV3 episode, we saw Les & Jack driving down Trafford Wharf Road- right past where the current Corrie studios are (but was just empty land back in 1999).
