Has anyone heard anything about HM The Queen making a speech like she did on the eve of Diana and the Queen Mother’s funerals? Maybe it will be included in the programme that’s airing at 7pm on BBC One if she is to make one?

I thought there might be one but you’d imagine it would come tonight or in the morning. So far no signs.

I very much doubt that she will be making a speech, as a widow she will still be grieving after the mourning period.

Seems that many countries around Europe are going to broadcast the funeral tomorrow afternoon, both public and private broadcasters will do, the only exception seems to be Ireland. As of right now there are no Irish TV and Radio channels that broadcast it. I presume this is also because RTE received raised a lot of eyebrows back in 2018 wneh they aired Harry and Meghan's wedding

Seems that in Germany seven channels are going to broadcast it, with both major public broadcasters ARD and ZDF and major private channels RTL and Sat1. (German: https://www.dwdl.de/nachrichten/82368/be...n_sendern/)

Just some thoughts about the black ITV obit ident - on my computer monitor I can see it perfectly fine, the ITV logo is black and the background is a dark grey, but I can still easily make out the ITV logo. But on my TV I couldn't really see anything. I wonder if it was designed and not tested on different types of TVs?

Quite likely a gamma thing, some TVs may have crushed it into the black. It didn't look brilliant (no pun intended) on my telly either. That's the great thing about standards, there's so many of them now!

I'm sorry if I am mentioning this subject again, I don't want to annoy anybody but out of curiosity, given that the funeral will be distributed to the other public broadcasters thanks to Eurovision, I now wonder how private TV channels all over Europe and the world like TF1, LCI, BFM TV, CNEWS, RTL Sat1, etc....are going to get the images of the funeral. Do the private broadcasters also use the Eurovision distribution feed? Do they have their own feed? Or they just send their own teams and TV cameras to London? Apologies if I disturb but I'm a very curious guy

Usually broadcasters have a subscription to at least one of the agencies - i.e. APTN or Reuters - who have dedicated TV channels.

For less 'significant' events, the coverage is often incomplete or single camera. It's not quite the same as a sporting event, for example, where you have a guaranteed, dedicated world feed of one thing - it's more a single channel that could be covering anything that happens to be going on. It's designed more for news channels (and, these days online) rather than 'critical' events that need to be in UHD / superior audio etc. They often feed b-roll stuff or extended live shots (e.g. Reuters have been filming the entrance to the castle these last few days).

Someone else here will know if you can get APTN by fibre or it's satellite only.

It will be broadcast on the RTÉ News Channel but I am very surprised that it is not currently scheduled to be broadcast on RTÉ 1.

It will be broadcast on the RTÉ News Channel but I am very surprised that it is not currently scheduled to be broadcast on RTÉ 1.

I am pleased to hear that there will be a way for Irish viewers to watch the funeral, I think it's not on RTÉ 1 because then again, given Ireland's history with the UK, it might ruffle a few feathers there!

I once saw on Lyngsat that APTN's TV channel is encrypted but Reuters' TV channel is free to air apparently

I'm the opposite... I can see it fine on television, but I can't see anything on my laptop.

Despite my eyes not being as good as they used to be, I could see the ITV obit ident on both my cheap Philips 32" dumb set while watching on ITV HD and on the PC monitor.
