On an entirely different point, if I was the director of programmes - John McAndrew - I'd definitely be focusing on putting right the huge amount of problems on my channel rather than taking the bait and getting involved in petty spats like this:

If he and Andrew Neil were that confident in their product, shouldn't they be rising above all this rather than scrapping it out on social media just to feed their Twitter army of defenders?

And a defence like that is potentially a breech of GDPR.

That's one thing the channel at least got right, taking in a load of young talent and giving them opportunities, the industry is so hard to get into. They could maybe do with some more training but I am sure it will be worked out. Once they get an idea of what works I am sure people will be moved about to make the best use of their skills. In my mind they should be on top of things by September. They have the summer to play with it a bit.

That should have been off-air though. When the studio build shots first appeared a couple of months back most people in the know thought they needed a good six months before going to air.

I enjoyed a tweet from a journalist who called GB News "the Fyre festival of news channels"

Here’s hoping the documentary on this is half as good as the Fyre Festival ones.
I feel sorry for some of the staff involved who probably are feeling like lambs to the slaughter and trying to keep the show on the road but the whole thing is an utter trainwreck.

And why would that be?

Because data which can be used to identify a person and is about that person has just been used outside a lawful purpose. Applying for a job means the business you send your CV to may only use your data for the lawful purpose of processing your application unless you actively consent to other uses.

Not quite as bad as Amanda Holden when it comes to talking about space though. To be fair here I can see where the confusion arose and I suspect the question may not have been in reaction to what he said anyway but pre-planned around viewerd concerned over how responsible China was for the initial transmission of the virus.

Multinationals choosing where to advertise or not is the free market in action, which is exactly what GB News are proponents of. Not forgetting, also, that GB News is part of a multinational itself. It's portraying itself as an underdog against the London media elite, but it really is not.

That is true, except it's not 'part of a multinational'. It's a smallish company and it's investors include a multinational broadcaster, the owners of another multinational broadcaster and various others.

If it was part of a bigger company then things wouldn't be so bad for them
