How does Channel 5 deal with Jeremy Vine in the situation? Is the pre-recorded bit now out of date? Or would they have avoided this subject, it escapes me how much is actually recorded before the new extended bit starts?

Strange timing in that it was just 2 days from the day that he previously resigned and caused a newsflash during Wimbledon.

They've certainly done that kind of thing better before - no acknowledgment that the news continues on One or that it's a change to the schedule. They did manage it on the announcement into Frontline Fightback, which has moved to Two.

I never understand comments like this.
When a big breaking story happens, you can't escape it - there are a million and one places you can watch/hear coverage, but not everyone is interested in watching hours of rolling coverage of - in this case - the front door of 10 Downing Street and endless speculation about what happens next and who will take over...
You have to allow people an alternative.
This Morning, Loose Women, etc. - as much as they are 'fluff' telly - offer useful respite/distraction/variety to people on days like this, and should - in my view, at least - absolutely air as planned.

That Ed and Susanna started dancing along to until the altered lyrics kicked in and they had to pretend to distance themselves from it.
This Morning would have been quite annoyed if their show had been pulled today what with them doing a live festival from the forest

I agree, we had the mad suggestion yesterday that ITV should have aired the PM select committee instead of Tenable and Tipping Point and with the best will in the world, that’s not something that appeals to ordinary people and ITV aren’t going to want to air it given they’d be losing ad money.
This Morning was brilliant during the lockdowns and probably was more valuable than hours of rolling news which I suspect if the news junkies on here had their way, they’d have replaced anything light and non serious with rolling news.

Yes I know that but Nina did mention just before This Morning went on air that ITV News will be back on air for Boris's resignation statement at 12.30, which means it's highly unlikely that Loose Women will be on air today.
