Wouldn't it be better for Sky UK also, to have a linear 4K channel than everything "hidden" under the red button?
Unless they launch one for each of their channels that has 4K content (all of them except Racing?) I can see it being more trouble than it's worth.
?

Why does it have to be so problematic?

Sky launching something à la Sky 3D, a mixture of content (even active during simulcasts only) wouldn't be so much of an issue, IMO

There are occasions, such as right now with the Derby EFL match and The Hundred, where there are multiple 4K events happening at the same time. Moreso on F1 weekends with UHD HDR football games for the new season.

It's not really worthwhile having one 4K channel for the sake of having it.
A little bit interesting, but when me and my friend were looking through trademarks, we actually came across the "Sky Max" trademark but never thought of it. This would've been back in January-March since I can't remember what exact month it was. We did discover also the trademark for "Sky Bravo", which was also in discussion quite a few years ago.

Keep an eye out on Sky channels throughout the next two weeks, Sky Max trails have been airing. So far it looks clean and slick as expected.

I saw one on Sky News last night.
Has anyone taped the promo or should I say, have Sky posted it anywhere?

EDIT: Happened to catch the promo on Sky One. Unfortunately, I was watching on Sky Go, which has strong DRM against streaming/recording.

"A Supercharged New Channel"
"Laugh Louder"
"Love Stronger"
"Live Bolder"
"Entertainment. Supercharged"

The usage of "supercharged" might be making the Sky Broadband marketing team stomp on their feet.

Sky Showcase, being the channel that will host a bunch of content from each of the sky package of channels, is one I have speculated a lot about in recent days. If its going to be a channel with a bit of everything, then it needs to stick to that. If I was in charge of what Sky Showcase would show, this is likely how I'd do it. I will do a day's worth of programming, between 6am and 12am the next day, with bits from each channel. This is a mismash, and frankly, I think (I HOPE) they would have a better mix of programmes. My idea would basically be to have the schedules of each Sky Channel work alongside Sky Showcase, so that a show can air simultaneously. At junctions, announcer can say 'If you want more of this programme, go to this channel, or on Catchup:

I feel like that one is more from the perspective of 'We own the rights to Bravo, but we will own this trademark as well, so we can say we own all of Bravo's assets'

I’d be very surprised if we saw anything from Sky News on it.
I wouldn't expect to see Challenge programming (Family Fortunes) on there either, nor Pick, Syfy, etc. It'll only be shows from the Sky branded entertainment and lifestyle channels.

The press release said it'd feature shows from the NBCUniversal channels in addition to the Sky ones.
Looking at the branding so far for Max, with the whole "text gradient" thing they've got going on [it's in the logo too, surprisingly] and "supercharged" copy -

I feel like the idents would be various different things related to the channel, but "at max capacity", that kind of thing

The animation at the start of that clip feels quite close to the Sky Broadband brand in my mind.
