Have to say Duncan Golestani is really good on both ITV News and ITV News London especially on the latter where IMO he brings a bit more personality and humour to the programme when it's appropriate.

I remember once C4 News being live at Westminster where there were loads of protests over Brexit, and they were using rock concert mics (the ones attached to your face and virtually in your mouth), and they were pretty good. Wonder why ITV couldn't do the same?

Looked like a different front on the desk tonight with the blocks, as seen on the election desk back in May, whilst earlier it was the version with ITV News on it.

Forgive me for being a little bit stupid here, but have ITV axed News at Ten on a Friday now permanently?
It always seems that ITV have given up on Friday prime time - with the usual half hour Emmerdale and an hour of Coronation Street, before what appears to be the regular repeat of Vera or Endeavour or some other repeat of an ITV drama, before the news starting at 10.20pm. Why have they chosen this, and has this happened by the back door, using Covid as an excuse? As there seems to be no fuss about it, indeed remember the furore when News at Ten in 2001 would be bounced around the schedules like a football? Thank You.

It may well have been quietly axed, I'm not in a position to say, but it's still labelled and branded as News at Ten, despite going out at 10.25. Not nearly as many people watch News at Ten as in the past (I think it only pulls 1.5-2.5m), but it appears to be stuck at 10.20 or 10.25 on Fridays (of course, the recent Football not withstanding), so i wouldn't really say it's being "bounced around like a football" like in the News at When era.
Let's be honest, the Friday late slot for the news hasn't really been that safe since NaT was first axed in 1999, and is often changed for something else to overrun. The days when they'd interrupt a film for 45 minutes of news are long gone. |
