Why can't Quest Means Business go back to its old studio? It was so much better and entertaining when he could move around.
Also, can't First Move go to a studio? I know the original premise was for it to be based at the NYSE, but as that's not allowed these days, couldn't they do better than the 'broom cupboard'?
If One World gets its own studio, surely the already established Quest Means Business and First Move could too? Surely CNN US doesn't take up all the space all the time?

I don't think AC360, Cuomo, Don Lemon are in their big old studios either? My understanding is significant social distancing restrictions remain in place in New York, so if the prime time shows aren't in the big studios then I wouldn't expect CNNI's shows to be!

Studio 21L (A360) has been in use on and off since the election. It was in use just this week for the trial of Chauvin. I can't see why A360 isn't coming from there?

QMB came from Studio 19Y (New Day) pre-pandemic. If they can man it in the mornings, then surely is safe to man it for QMB. Kate Bolduan's At This Hour also utilised that studio. I'm no technician, but the studio if off air for 2 hours before At This Hour begins and so one would assume there is plenty of time to sanitize?

I think finding a home for Ana Cabrera will be the trickiest. Studio 17N (Newsroom) will be busy once Poppy Harlow and Jim Scuitto return. Scuitto was doing roughly 4 days in New York and a day in Washington before things went haywire. I can't see them continuing in flash studios for much longer.

With regard to Zain's new show, I'm not sure it will specifically focus on Africa. The promo clearly explains that Africa will have a place in the news agenda like any other country. They've only mentioned it due to Zain's background, or blood as she explains herself. This show show should definitely get its own studio.

Here's a quick refresh of the CNN studios at Hudson Yards. With the exception of 17N, all other studios and can be set in multiple configurations.

19Y - New Day, At this Hour, QMB, Cuomo PrimeTime
17N - Early Start, Newsroom, Reliable Sources, Fareed Zakaria (when live). Tapper and Blitzer have also used 17N when in New York.
21L - A360, CNN Elections
19Z - Out Front, CNN Tonight, Fareed Zakaria (pre rec)
19X - Van Jones, CNN Town Halls and CNN Specials with Audiences.

It may not be that simple to staff those studios more often and shows like QMB and First Move presumably involve fewer staff in their current arrangements.

It's good practice to keep one team on standby away from the studios in case there is a Covid outbreak which means another one isn't available, and that may be why certain shows aren't in their usual studios still .

Wolf Blitzer just announced at the end of today's Situation Room that next week he will move to a 6pm start time (1 hour duration) - with Jake Tapper's The Lead being expanded to two hours from 4pm ET - don't think I've seen any confirmation elsewhere before now.

It's been known since January that the change would be happening. I think we had posted on here, Just it's only been since a week or two ago that I posted about the date of when it was happening.

Speaking of which, I also presume that the lead presenter for Washington events is also switching from Wolf to Jake Tapper next week as well, which is pretty finely timed as Joe Biden is addressing a joint session next Wednesday (Thursday morning UK time) so I presume this will be the first event that Jake Tapper, rather than Wolf, gets the lead presenter role once the schedules update which they haven't yet.

This makes me think about what role Wolf will be in once we get to the election coverage in 2022. Will it just be a simple swap with him moving to Jake's previous role being with Dana and Abby or will he been given something different or not even be there. Will be one to watch out for but that's still awhile ahead.

Beginning in June, the free CNNI stream which is currently available in the UK will be put behind a paywall (articles and short clips will continue to be available for free). The trade-off will be that the stream will be ad-free with short-form content being shown during ad-breaks.

If this is the start of a trend to shift CNN from expensive pay TV contracts to streaming that will be the end of CNN International. There’s no way they would be able to continue with extensive international live news if they were primarily streaming.

So it will be interesting to watch this space and see where they take it.

Having just watched most of the first edition of One World, felt like an extra 45 minutes of Connect the World, but with an African rather than Middle Eastern 'skew'

Liking Zain’s show a lot - no nonsense with live reports from across the world. It seems it’ll focus on the day’s main stories but with African stories included (today from Mozambique and Nigeria). Hopefully over time there’ll be a bit less use of ‘equal seat at the global table’ as a phrase but the concept itself is good.

Exactly the sort of show CNNI should be doing - let’s just hope it actually airs more over than not.
When CNNI does air its own shows recently it has had a more global focus which couldn’t be said for much of the Trump era and that’s a positive development.

Though it's not one hour when you consider all the simulcasts - the US breakfast shows are aired on CNNI for over 3 hours plus all of the primetime output so that's a significant amount of Domestic being aired daily. CNN Domestic is anything but getting shortchanged on CNNI

The obvious move (which surely must only be a matter of time) would be the return of Hala's show and putting that or Amanpour in the current U.S Newsroom simulcast slot as that'd then mean you have a solid 7-hour block of International programmes whether that be CTW, QMB, Amanpour or something else.
