Saturday Night Takeaway
So, Ant and Dec have once again delved into the archives of Morecambe and Wise, and chose to do a routine in a manner Eric and Ernie would do. Do Ant and Dec have any original bones in their bodies?

Ant trying so hard to act like Eric and Dec trying hard to be the next Ernie Wise. Even the mock sword fight is a copy of what Eric and Ernie did on their 1975 Christmas show.
Those credits were quite short. Only one slide then to the endcap.
They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines

It looked like an error of some sort to me. Very abrupt ending.
That was such a great episode, I loved how they used members of the public for the Undercover and in the End of The Show Show. They definitely ran over at the end though as STV’s ECP triggered as A&D were talking about next week’s show.
Agreed on the undercover - one of my favourites in a while.

I wonder why they did a sofa watch rather than another rainbow?
The show was over-running - it finished at 8:32. Short credits was the result.

It’s still light outside at 7pm now, so the rainbow would be hard to see.

Could be something to do with the sunset setting later so it wouldn’t be as visible in the sky when it’s light.
I do think the sofa/rainbow is the weakest part each week, but I totally understand why they want to do something like that. Just feels a bit of a mess to pluck one person out for a prize!
I thought undercover went on for longer than it should have done.

I did notice there was no PolterGuys this week, perhaps it was a last minute decision and they showed an extended cut of the Undercover to fill the time instead?

Ant vs Dec replaced PolterGuys, they don’t do one every week, I think there are generally 5 episodes.

Stephen’s absence has probably changed the scheduling of both. They’ve shown three PolterGuys so far and there are two weeks left of the series, so they will probably have both items on next week’s show, unless there’s only four episodes or they combine two episodes into a longer finale edition.

So if Eric and Ernie did something, no entertainment act can ever do something remotely similar, many, many years later?

Also worth pointing out that nobody under the age of 30 will have any idea who Eric and Ernie even are…
The Eric and Ernie feeling was very prominent tonight, but then they’ve never really hidden their inspirations and heroes.

I wonder if repeating the final lady’s Read My Lips meant they effectively lost 30 seconds? If timings are that scripted. It would be interesting to know if they generally have to hit a fixed off air time because of ad breaks. The way the credits appeared on the beat of the music suggests they were maybe going to have it playing instead of the usual theme too, and possibly over the studio shots instead of black for the second time. Which is always welcome.
