As a long-term critic of the Central Square set, I have to say that the changes are a bit of an improvement, but I can't yet say I'm a fan.
I don't know if they've relit the set or if it's the new backdrop, but the lighting balance between presenter and videowall seems to be significantly better than it was. The newsroom shot, though, just needs to be dropped or relit from scratch - the combination of the dark newsroom and the bright videowalls and lightboxes produces a window shot that is basically 'how not to light a studio with a window 101'.
It's also a shame that they haven't taken the opportunity to add a rostrum or ditch the crappy sofa (I don't particularly mind the grey colour, it just looks flimsy). It isn't that having a desk straight on the floor can't work, I just think that it doesn't in a set that otherwise barren.
