So delivered over a phone line then long before that was a way many of consumers our television?

Fibre optic IIRC, discussed a few times over on the blue place.
Think they all went via microwave initially which was later replaced by fibre as it was (it says here) microwave was more resilient to nuclear attack.

Don't think it was a "phone line" as we know it today, probably closer to a Virgin style setup?
