Interesting there seems to have been no further comment either way today which kind of suggests there is some truth in it. Usually denials come out quicker than confirmations.
I think for all it's faults in the end at least The X Factor had something so many shows seem to lack now - a bit of ambition. TV has always had shows which are that little bit above anything else they show in staging and production, which ITV still has in Q1 & Q2 with The Masked Singer, Saturday Night Takeaway and BGT - but has been lacking in the second half of the year with shows which are all basically at the same level. Maybe Ninja Warrior somewhat ticks that box this year - certainly more so than the likes of The Cube and The Void did last year, but it's not exactly A-list TV. As a fan of it I'd even say B-list was generous.
