There can also be an issue of perception when you're seen by viewers to have moved for a bigger pay cheque.

When Adrian Chiles and Christine Lampard presented The One Show, they were seen as presenters who'd worked their way up from regional / daytime TV to the show. 

The very public negotiations between BBC & ITV and Christine after Adrian Chiles left did change perceptions and Christine's career never really recovered.

Not convinced the public nature of negotiations had anything to do with her career flopping. I think it’s more that she is not that versatile as a presenter imo. People like Adrian Chiles seem to adapt more easily to different formats and can reinvent themselves quite easily. She was only really known for the One Show, and that doesn’t require you to be the most inspiring or talented presenter. The difference to other daytime presenters is they are either legends of the game (like Lorraine), people aspire to be them (like Holly), or they are just genuinely talented at what they do

A rather confusing breakdown if I may say so. Not entirely sure you can categorise Lorraine and Susanna in the same league as Christine and Holly. Neither of the latter are journalists nor have any such experience. Susanna and Lorraine are both journalists. I’m old enough to remember her presenting/anchoring the Lockerbie plane crash on TV-AM when she was a wee Bonnie lass. 

The idea that Holly is a legend I find simply laughable, sorry Natasha I mean no offence. 

BIG MOIRA may have lacked a journalism background but she spent long enough in a purely news environment to be able to anchor on her own. 

Adrian Chiles was lucky he got the sports gig off the back of Daybreak, Christine not so much and even today has barely appeared on tv since.

Just my thoughts though.
