I've seen that episode of People Today which had the Thatcher newsflash. The newsflash itself was only a minute or two and then they went back to the programme which continued as if nothing had happened. The only mention was when they read a few messages from callers just before the 10am news. They ended by saying that the mess and Children's BBC was next and what they were covering later on.... only to be followed by Judi Spiers, who did the in vision continuity on Daytime UK to say exactly the opposite, that the rest of the morning was going to be news.
It wasn't handled that well, but unlike other daytime magazines like This Morning or Anne and Nick it was human interest orientated not topical.
It also shows how different things are now with rolling news, then it was a just 2 minutes from the daytime bulletins newsreader as they weren't ready to do any more. Now the news would break and run from there
