I think Oyster cards are pretty well known, quite a lot of the population will have visited London in the last 15 years. You could imagine a gag on Graham Norton mentioning one, and expect the viewers to get the joke. The ‘something called an Oyster Card’ made it sound like Nick himself had no idea what one was.
Well, quite. I’ve never lived in London but I’m well aware of what an Oyster Card is. They might as well explain what the London Underground is if they really want to patronise us hicks in the sticks.
