I think the focus has been squarely on Piers’ show so far - I suspect they’ll leave The News Desk as it is for now to find its feet, before pushing it if need be a few weeks down the line. As mentioned above they’ve been good at getting some exclusive stories and I think they’ll get some traction.
I do think however the radio simulcast outside of peak is a little jarring and I have no interest in watching this. I’d have been more inclined to stick a camera in the Times Radio studio, it has a much better reputation and I think would translate better to tv.
