Yes, before England vs Argentina I think - it was on at 6.15 and then repeated the next day at 9pm.
Obviously there's no way that kind of thing would happen these days - I remember Marcus Plantin being interviewed in the Radio Times when he was Controller of ITV in 1995 saying that he was now specifically making a point of working with Corrie and Emmerdale and discussing storylines with them, so ITV could give them decent slots and promotion when their big events were happening, and they could make sure they didn't clash with anything else they had planned, which seemingly hadn't happened before. That huge episode of Corrie going out during the World Cup illustrates that, although it also illustrates that the World Cup wasn't considered the massive event it was these days.
