It should be noted that this isn't the first time that the BBC have used the UK Championship as their basis of changing the graphics. Back when they moved to this yellow, white and blue design, the "in play" player was denoted with a tiny 5px wide vertlcal bar. That was very quickly reverted within about 2 days to regular arrows when it was impossible to spot.
I hope they revert this design. The black bar makes it look like the camera images stop at the scoreboard, makling it look like they're filling an "empty" slot [when obviously the image doesn't stop at the scoreboard] and the wideness is very distracting due to the scoreboard being there the whole time. Its just not a great look and most people are pretty negative to this change on both social media and on reddit.
