Last Saturday, coinciding with their 20th anniversary of its launch as a Porto-based local news channel called NTV (which RTP bought in 2003, relaunching it one year later as a national news channel called RTPN, to compete with market leader SIC Notícias), the channel’s graphics were completely revamped. Not only RTP3’s programmes were affected, but also RTP1’s Telejornal, which debuted the changes today, and even dropping the 2016 theme music in the orchestral re-recording premiered during their 60th anniversary (RTP3 still retains their music). Additionally, Ana Lourenço (a former SIC presenter who joined RTP in 2018) is leaving RTP3’s late night news analysis programme 360º, joining José Rodrigues dos Santos and João Adelino Faria as one of Telejornal’s alternating presenters, mostly anchoring on weekends and public holidays.As unfortunate it is so see the old Telejornal theme go, as it has since been one of my favorites, I am LOVING the graphics here. It fuses a clock, radar, 2D and 3D, as well as gradients. Quite lovely.
