NewscastStudio has a inside look at the move.I always found it a bit strange that they used a studio in a separate location from the rest of their operation for so much of their output, but didn't even make that much use of the windows.
I can understand it for the likes of WABC or WLS. Their streetside studios are in their regular buildings so, as they're not paying any extra for the privilege, it makes no odds whether the output reflects the location. But I've never really understood WFAA's approach.
