Taken a look - the idea is far too clever for it's own good. Whilst I quite like the idea of symbols being used instead of logos spelling out the service it just does not work here at all - "extremely unclear" is my answer to most questions and frankly it looks more like symbols for accounting software than the BBC. I think the main issue is they need too many variations of the same idea - if it was just for three or four things it might work, but for a whole banner of icons it's a non-starter. They replace things which clearly spell out what each service is with something which looks more like a cryptic picture clue. Is the blue one supposed to be Weather and the purple one either CBBC or CBeebies then?
The adapted BBC Two idents looks shockingly bad - terrible. Was wondering how they might screw that up and if they go ahead with this they'll exceed expectations. I do like the idea of the opening sting though pushing the BBC brand, but it needs to be executed far better. BBC News worked better, but not as a DOG and though the logo with "BBC News" isn't great it is far better than the block motif that it quickly disappeared to reveal.
Seems to be a lot more work to be done here.
