I think there are a few different versions of the survey. Personally, I saw BBC Sport and iPlayer. I still don’t love the new boxes in their simplest form, but I do like the 3 line motif they seem to be going for - from the little I've seen it looks like they’re taking the three boxes and adapting their shape/size/spacing/colouring to create individual graphic logos or symbols for each sub brand.
I think it could work well, especially once people get used to the new symbols. It’s very appropriate in an App-driven world, but there is a limit on how you can arrange three lines or boxes in a way which is immediately different enough to be recognisable on its own.
As has previously been mentioned though, W1A’s Perfect Curve already played with the concept of “removing the letters” years ago so they weren’t far off the mark!!
